Do you think we would have any real athletic competition in the world if every group could gain access to the rewards of winning championships, races, or leagues?

I greatly doubt that sportspeople are doing it entirely for the physical trophy.

Also, out in the real world, it is entirely possible to make a replica of an Olympic gold medal if you really want one. Or you can get a trophy and write anything you like on it. There's nothing magically blocking people from copying an object or outfit.
