It is already tough picking the desired eye and skin color in this game, surely our Elezen friend could do something as simple as that, considering he can turn characters into a constant state of anger 24/7
I can definitely appreciate the fact that Fantasia sales are likely really important to the game. I doubt most people would even consider a Fantasia for *possibly* changing their skin or eye-color by one or two shades difference.
It also probably wouldn't be the end of the world to be able to adjust the other options, I would think. Again, sometimes it's hard to tell "do I like this nose?", because you can only REALLY judge your character, when they're talking to other NPC's and you can sort of compare the two.
I've definitely found myself playing a whole lot less here lately, and honestly, I think part of it is that I feel so apprehensive about using my Fantasia. I changed to Lalafell just to give it a go (it's funny, but it really does change the overall "experience" of the story), but as charming as my lil guy seems as a lala, a huge motivation for me is working towards that "coolest looking character possible". So whenever I use that Fantasia, I feel like I need to be absolutely certain on single single aspect of his appearance.
It's... kind of a lot of pressure. If the Aesthetician offered more options, though, I'd feel a whole lot more comfortable using fantasia's (ironically, probably a bit more often).
There's one time I want to fantasia into Au Ra so I can just change my eye color with Limbal Ring instead...![]()

Ir would be nice to have those minor things added to the aesthetician… no matter what scenery you’re using, or how you rotate the lighting, there have been times I’ve changed eye color, and then saw myself in a cutscene and thought, wow that doesn’t look right! And yes I have fantasiaed over eye color before because I’m picky. lol luckily I got them on sale!

Speaking of which, goodness, they need to fix the lighting in the sceneries...Ir would be nice to have those minor things added to the aesthetician… no matter what scenery you’re using, or how you rotate the lighting, there have been times I’ve changed eye color, and then saw myself in a cutscene and thought, wow that doesn’t look right! If Jandelaine can dye hair, he can change a few light bulbs.

Yeah, much as I hate MTX, these are purely cosmetic changes and are very very popular, which in turn means SE doesn't need to push as many more impactful things on the store (the kind that result in P2W accusations, or in crafters becoming salty that they're handed reused-model sets while new looks are being MTX'd, as has happened in a tier or two, 4.2 says hi in particular).
I actually wonder if that's part of why Endwalker has been seen by many to struggle bus in terms of its post-patch content (e.g., a slower patch cadence, no new Eureka/Bozja equivalent, etc.): SE likely got hit very hard in the wallet not only by losing a lot of new player sales due to having to suspend game sales for the congestion, but also I would very much expect that the launch rush was far lighter on Fantasia revenue (consider that you have to log out to use one: a lot of people likely reconsidered refreshing their looks when they realized it would put them in yet another conga line longer than a week's worth of real life theme park lines ... and this despite the long awaited bunny boys).
Granted, there is the fact that SE's biggest competitor completely did away with real money transactions for appearance changes an expansion ago, and apparently made them completely free this expansion, but then, you're also talking a game that basically twists your arm into buying gold unless you're really good at playing the markets or have nothing else to do with your life. Fantasia costing money seems like a small evil by comparison.![]()
Jandelaine can dye our hair. Fur is hair. Hrothgars are covered in fur, therefore, Jandelaine should be able to change Hrothgar "skin tones"![]()
