Mentor roulette already attempts to get you to queue for duties that people have been in queue for the longest. The people in a queue for a specific duty are mostly first timers.

So this is really just asking that we can see the internal matching system, which at a moment's notice may be out of date as it automatically matches people together.

Yes, the current mentor roulette fails completely at getting content filled for anything except the most basic duties. Mentors will drop out if its an EX almost immediately, specially from HW +.

Also, if two sprouts are queued, and one is for Shiva EX, and the other is for Sastasha, the mentor roulette will automatically funnel you to the fastest one if it can fill it with you and take you out of the Shiva queue, making that sprout wait for hours on end, especially alliance raid runs like SB + HW.

This way, you can stick to what you signed up for. And sprouts can get help quicker.

    I'll give an example:
Ruby Weapon EX. If a sprout is determined enough to clear it, sits in the queue for 5 hours, the bounty balloons to 5 million gil, that EX WILL run. (Clear is debatable, although a 50% reward should be given for running the duty timer till the end)

This would never happen under current systems.

This is a complete myth, as is the belief that it prioritizes duties with sprouts or first-timers. People spend hours waiting in Alliance Raid queues while Mentor Roulette just throws you into Praetorium and Alzadaal's Legacy over and over with no hesitation. The algorithms are undoubtedly faulty, however cryptic they may be.

The 3.2 patch says "Mentors will also gain access to Duty Roulette: Mentor, which assigns players to duties that are struggling to fill party member slots", so maybe their definition of "struggling" is the same as it is for all other roulettes rather than those that have been in the queue for a long time.

Yes, but this is a fundamental flaw in my opinion, because the amount of traffic going through the basic duties will get that person their run rather fast, with or without the mentor being funneled into it, whereas it completely kills the other harder content because any person queued in the roulette will get funneled to move other things faster along the line.

Just because a Sastasha run is "struggling" to get a healer within 10 seconds of a new player being queued, that doesn't mean it's really struggling, or that the run will take any more than 5 minutes to fill up. Whereas a queue that's been in wait for 60 minutes would actually be the practical definition of struggling.

However, this proposed system isn't meant to replace any other in existence, it is meant to be a new feature added to the game thats a win - win for both new players and veterans alike. Since there is a monetary incentive for the veterans to continue logging on and playing the game at endgame and new players get to fill duties that would otherwise never run.

This would make the duty roulette much more functional than it already is, and it would reduce the need for Mentors to recommend new players to use the PF instead because they are wasting their time in the roulette. - a negative experience.
