    This wouldn't happen, content unlock in FFXIV is extremely story-based, if someone missed 8.0, they'd have to play 8.0 MSQ to get to 9.0 even if they are on-level to do 9.0, as much as you can argue this to be a problem, it is just not likely to ever change.

    I disagree. There's a chance it could actually happen. There's concern over having new people catch up. Yes, it's extremely story-based, but why can't we have shorter stories going forward? Do you really see another 10 year arc going forward?
