As an Au Ra player I would kill for them to give us two versions of gear with tattoos, one with and one without. The tattoos look terrible on scales like... it's bad and I can only imagine how bad it looks on poor Hrothgar.

I agree tattoo's are stupid. I don't like them in real life. I don't like them in video games. I will never use this glamour because of this.
Agreed. I'm not a fan of tattoos in general, but they look specially ridiculous on Hrothgar due to their overlapping fur patterns (I assume Au Ra have the same issue). There are already some glamours that have "with and without" variants, like the fireglass hoodie, or the Rebel and Urban coats, so adding tattooless versions should be easy.
Bottom line, tattoos should be optional to begin with.

I thought I liked the Skyworker's Singlet with its rad tattoo at first, but when I actually spent money on it I started wishing it was just a regular vest.![]()
Mortal Fist
They do. Vrankyl already mentioned this, but it looks unnatural on both Au Ra and Hrothgar.
On Au Ra it looks spray-painted on, shoddily going over their scales rather than having a design that's made to fit.
On Hrothgar it literally looks like a pigeon pooped on us. Because while Au Ra look spray-painted on, the uniform lines still make sense. Over fur it makes no sense for the lines to be so neat. I know it's a byproduct of it being a videogame with a simple approach to graphics because it's an MMO... but that just makes it all look jarring. They look like something solid is on us.
Now I'm sorry but this just looks like plastic over us.

If there was a way to /visor chest pieces I would agree, but for now I think the best solution is for us tattoo-enjoyers to keep the handful of tattoo pieces available to us and for others to just not wear them.

I want to wear that but they don't look good on dark skinned characters![]()

I have no clue if this was said in here, so I will drop it anyway. Be forewarned I am also terrible at explaining things. The models that SE uses are polygonal. That would be your meshes for basically everything. So, a skin texture, for example - this would be applied to a wire-like mesh and then 'made' to look 3D. Before slapping on the final texture, it is also made to mimic the higher quality one to work with low-end PCs better. It isn't just a SE thing, it is a MMO thing because not everyone has a high-end PC. Things like bodies are done this way to lighten processing loads. While it sort of works for human-type characters..I guess. It is pretty awful for any body type with scales or fur. (pretty much what everyone has said.) TL;DR: flat textures slapped on a flat mesh look bad.
On that note, making two versions is very possible and pretty quick. They already have the mesh, delete the extra and call it a day. I have no clue why they don't do this. I like the tattoos, but they need to make some that don't look straight off a skid row tat shops wall of flash. OH. And since I am here, make more gear that don't cover up the legacy tattoo. Or put it in a place that isn't awful. Thanks.![]()
Agreed. I propose adding a toggle option like the visor's so that we can remove things like these from chests in a thread I made some time ago (see here).
That would open more options for chestpieces in general and to those that like and dislike the tattoos in this case. It is also particularly annoying for the Skyworker's Singlet due to to it being the only tank top in the game with nothing else attached to it.

I think it would make everyone happy if body tattoos were a separate character customization options that everyone can turn on/off and choose from differently. There are already a few examples of this in game and after seeing this set from an upcoming Tataru quest, I feel the need to reiterate this. I cannot stand tattoos, but do not want to take the option away from others, but seeing the arm and chest tattoo instantly makes the set not an option for me.
