As someone who recently obtained a 6th dream house. There really isn't a problem with current system and I view any issue in regards to housing as a skill issue.
I am also against instanced housing.

“I’m lucky enough to not be subject to a badly designed system, this doesn’t affect me so I don’t care. Everything is fine.”
I do hope you’re joking though, otherwise it shows how narrow-minded and silly you are. Talking about “skill” in a system that gives random results. If you really mean it, did you even pause and think before writing such nonsense ?
The fact that Dynamis is "dead" is a self fulfilling prophecy caused by the players, for this very reason.Imagine how us balmungers who never even had a Small in 8 years of trying feel. Every SMALL is at 10+ already.
And to those of you who keep saying "Just transfer" Why should we be forced to give up the entire main reason to play the game (RP or Content) to move to a Dead DC where neither exist just for something SE can fix just by adding more wards.
"Hey, if Dynamis is dead, just transfer to Aether or Crystal. Why complain your server is dead?"
See the problem?
If people would just transfer to the new DC, it wouldn't be dead, and you would be able to RP and do content there.
They can't make existing servers bigger, the only solution is to add more servers. Which means players need to move to those servers.
It's like 1,000 people trying to board a plane that has a capacity of 500, and complaining to the airline that all the First Class seats are taken.
"It's ok, we've got three more planes ready to board"
"That's not a solution! Those planes are empty! We don't want to board an empty plane! Fix this one!"

I have friends who transferred. They have gotten to the point they are set up to do their own events now, and they regularly travel to their old DC for events there or to talk to friends. We've also been going there to see them and what they are up to (and a few more people transferred once realizing how much housing was still available). The fact that Dynamis is "dead" is a self fulfilling prophecy caused by the players, for this very reason.

It's not as if Dynamis is isolated.
So at the core this is about a person who failed to get a large so now they are upset? When they play on probably the mist populated crystal server?

We should move Balmung to the OCE Datacenter. Enough Houses for everyone and their grandma.
And I thought RPers were more creative when it comes to creating background stories for the Characters.
You could be on an expedition, the ship sunk and you are stranded on Dynamis or for the Balmongian ERPs you
could be abducted to Dynamis. So many possibilities to take advantage of the new Houses if they really wanted.
Meanwhile I won my large with my bid being the only one on Seraph and I don't have trouble traveling back to Exodus to play with friends still there. /huh

I got a medium and I was the only bidder. But thats cause I chose Goblet. Lots of 0s in Goblet meanwhile lots of bids on the few left in Lavender Beds. It is not a housing shortage. Its a location shortage.
embrace the beef chow mein
I'll humor the plane analogy here as unfitting as it is.The fact that Dynamis is "dead" is a self fulfilling prophecy caused by the players, for this very reason.

If my family (FC/friends) and everything I own (FC RP storylines, community reputation, ect.)are on one of the planes, and there are dozens of empty seats that I'm not allowed to take because "someone else owns them" (Literal empty houses only held and undecorated as status symbols, not to mention the large amount of completely untouched smalls in FC only wards.) Then yes. I will absolutely put the Airline at fault when the simplest solution would be to either expand the plane or let me sit in one of those empty seats and they instead just tell me to get on a plane that's going to Yemen or something instead of where everything I care about is.
The DC travel does not solve the major issues of DC travel time, the absolute impossibility of trying to convince someone on Crystal to come to Dynamis to see my house to RP, Inability to be in a FC on my home server of almost a decade and the fact that you are asking me to toss away almost a seven years of history and RP storylines in my FC to just get something that should be baseline for every player who wants it. A small house. SMALL. Not large, not medium. Not in a specific ward or district. Any District, Any Ward, Any Plot. Instanced or not.
I know I'm being cranky and hyperbolic in places. But it's frustrating to have tried to get any house at all since I could afford it in 2.4 and constantly fail. This is currently the lowest bid on small on Balmung for private buyers.
Thirteen bids on a small. There are a good number of long time players, ARR and even 1.0 Vets on Balmung who still do not have a house. Partially because so many are owned by one person and grandfathered in, partially because of the ability to relocate whenever you want with no cost other than gil, and absolutely because we have dozens of empty, unused smalls sitting in FC only wards.

Not to mention all the stuff you’ve probably collected along the way! I may be somewhat of a hoarder, with 8 retainers. lol But with that, my apartment and FC room alone, transferring would mean dumping a lot of items. Some of them are glams I grinded for, some are housing event items that I bought too many of… I wouldn’t be able to shove everything in my inventory and retainers without losing a lot, even if I wanted to move.I'll humor the plane analogy here as unfitting as it is.

The housing situation is pretty much the same on Bryn (which was a preferred world back when I started playing!), but I have the aforementioned overburdened inventory, a community I’ve been a part of, and an FC I love. Like you said, transferring shouldn’t be the only option to get basically the bare minimum.
