Some people seem to be under the misapprehension that because people are not constantly kicking up a fuss about botting to this very same degree, that we must therefore be looking the other way and are OK with it.

Please, something to this degree, if we spent this much magnitude over it, this forum would just be utterly littered and filled with threads about botting, and they have in the past - They were when Ishgard Restoration was a thing, and they were on the weeks commencing for phase.

People complain all the time and in very large magnitudes about everything new. It's the whole 'it's new and shiny'-phase. People were like it with the RP Bilboard, they were like it when brothels were advertised, and they are like it with this, and they will be like it with the next thing, regardless of which facet of content it stems. Give it a couple of weeks and this issue will be mostly moot silence, just as Ishgard botting was when it past.

Some people have such reductive arguments, it's going beyond the point of comedy. I would further examine this thread to be more of an apathetic stance to the inaction of Square Enix, resorting into profoundly silly suggestions being made. I don't think it necessarily equates to people actually being OK with the state of affairs.

I don't even do any challenging content so I dont personally need it, but if you are agaisnt parsers, you probably are because you're just bad at the game or underperforming and you are scared of people calling you out on it

Not really, also if it helps you... could bar any savage/ultimate/unreal/extremes behind getting the Stone Sky Sea and have need of it as an achievement to be able to unlock that content.

Also I do not acknowledge world first clears and supposed elite groups that does not have a full group doing it on PS4-5 and future locked platforms, it is as easy put as that.

Well give me a good reason why not to bar these achievements in behind ways where it is next to impossible to cheat or use third party tools? and why should people be special if they could not do it the way it was supposed to be played.

Yoshi P. mentioned himself that this content has been proven and tested to be able to beaten down without any additional third party tools.

The "don't ask, don't tell" policy on mods/addons has been a thing for literal years. Devs and GMs literally do not care to police it because there are just too many people doing it and most of it is harmless cosmetic stuff, or pve things that don't get people heated until it's a world first competition. The people in charge never act until someone's stupid enough to force their hand by streaming a clear or cheating in public or speedhacking through Limsa. They're literally being paid and they don't care, but you're out here being like Randall from Recess and doing it for free. Saying this as someone who crafts and gets my stuff undercut by bulk sales from people who probably bot craft 11 hours a day. There's just no point getting upset about it. Nobody who matters gives a shit. Rarely is anything done. Report that guy for being stupid enough to bot in public and watch the GMs give you an "uhm ackshually we cant really prove he isn't botting" and move on. Type /icam in limsa and watch as you're shown a spider-cluster of lalafell bots under the city who are just there, 24/7, all day every day. They don't care. Your energy is finite; use it for something that matters.

Assuming that guy's actually botting and not just running an autosynthesis stack of 99 with a low afk-timer, that guy in the pic is dumb as hell though. I'm pretty sure there are options to just turn off your chair icon in the settings, but he's probably got his on the default setting to appear after 10 minutes of inactivity because ... well, what does it matter? OR failing that, he could've just gone into his locked apartment and nobody would've known. But he did it in town where everyone could see, because he probably doesn't care if he's seen So yeah OP, I agree with your stance but I'd take it 1 step further and say they basically already are permitted for everyone who's not stupid as hell about how they use them. At this point it's like jaywalking: technically it's illegal, but if you don't jump into busy traffic or do it while taunting a visible cop, then nobody seriously gives a shit. Which really sucks for some of the actual harmful third party shit like botting, but I'd still take it over having an anticheat that bloats the game and just gets evaded by botters anyway.

Going to be honest: I don't use 3rd Party and I do Savage. Railing on others because they are against parsers does not mean that they are bad. What IS bad is imposing your own opinion on others in a very negative fashion that borders on toxicity. Some people may still need to learn and there are community resources for that. Also, just so I can remind people at this end of the thread:

This controversy was caused by a World First team using 3rd Party Tools to CHEAT their way to a win.

The raiding community condemns this in regards to World First or any of the hardest content in the game(Ultimates/Savage).

Here's my take: If you use bot call-outs reliant on triggers, then you are inhibiting your capability of raiding without it. Things such as ACT in particular are things that are used quietly for self-improvement(still 3rd Party) in XIV, mainly for learning metrics they can improve on to increase their DPS. Anything else that provides an advantage outside of the game is cheating.

It has among the biggest modding scenes of any online game and towers above WoW in terms of popularity and capability of our add-ons. As many people on the forums agree, Square Enix will lose “around 40%” of their user base if they banned add-ons. 20,000 people are on the Mare server at any given time, and many millions of people have downloaded plugins. Parsing, “cheats”, and other tools are the bread and butter of Final Fantasy XIV in 2023. And we like it that way.

If you’re not raidlogging, modbeasting, and cheating your way through FFXIV in the current year, you’re far behind the curve and no one wants to have you in their party.

Square Enix doesn’t decide the rules of the game, we do. They can’t ban us all, nor will they try. We’re here to stay. Accept us or find something else to play.
