Would you be opposed to SE implementing a program to scan for addons/parsers?

Any tool that gives information other competitors might not have in game is cheating. Even parsers. Zooming out gives you holistic views of mechanics that help understand and see things better than others. That is a cheat. This wouldn't even be an argument in other games. Imagine being able to zoom out and overhead in COD to see where the other players are running. That would be a serious cheat. The limited level of zoom is a limitation that players need to overcome. Not cheat over.

Even parsers are cheating. They provide a level of information that allows a player to improve their performance and finetune their substats with an exact degree, something that most players wouldn't be able to achieve without access to such tools. As a consequence players who have seen their parses and theorycrafted and melded based on the numbers being output by their parses do enjoy a performance advantage over a player who has cleared content and has a general idea of their performance but nowhere near the same level of precision as cold hard numbers.

Personally employing anti cheat would be a waste of time and resources because FFXIV isn't a competitive game. And even if add ons didn't exist content sellers would. So they could buy a clear and sport a weapon even without a single add on installed.

If people want to subtract from their personal satisfaction and cheat at the game they are only cheating themselves out of the accomplishment. The other subset of people affect by this are the envious ones, that prefer to look at others and judge instead of having fun. Since those are the only two factors at play here, it doesn't make sense to invest into anti cheat.
