I wonder why we can't have beavers in FFXIV. I always wanted some giant, oversized beaver to jump out from the wood to swallow me whole. If we could get beavers in the game, maybe we could get them in translator!

My signature is edible. Go ahead, try some.
What i really hate from the auto-translate is that it only load the names of things you have on your inventory or the places you just where. Soo, lets say that you log and travel around the zone of Ul'dah and then if you need to say a camp or place in La Noscea, you probably don't find it on the autotranslate...
With the amount of memory we have right now there is no excuse for no loading the full dictionary terms into ram...There is no PS2 limitation. You can keep this method on PS3 since it have a limited amount of memory but on pc it don't make sense...
lol THIS WHOLE POST ^ didn't even make any sense. If any data of the game is stored on a PC... it would store on a HARD DRIVE. lol.. and btw my PS3 has a 1TB SATA drive attached to it... don't see any limitations in the next decade lulz
Edit: Unless you're talking about temporary memory.. but that would just be.. pointless.
I agree. A lot of times I just want to communicate with JP players but the auto-translate makes it too difficult to communicate.. =\

{Galka} {Meat} {Rod} {You can have this.} 2k
The /tells I got were both hilarious and sometimes serious.
I lol'd that this was posted as a preventative measure. You can tell right away that this guy was an FFXI player.
Lol you didn't play XI right? well there after a lot of patch they started doing what the auto translate on XIV does on default because there was soo many terms that it don't fit on the space of memory ram allocated for that on the ps2 or the pc version.lol THIS WHOLE POST ^ didn't even make any sense. If any data of the game is stored on a PC... it would store on a HARD DRIVE. lol.. and btw my PS3 has a 1TB SATA drive attached to it... don't see any limitations in the next decade lulz

Anyway, the point is there is no advantage of not have a the full auto-translate dictionary load on the memory. If you want to test it just type "camp" and you will get only the 8 camp most near to you. So if you are gonna teleport to a camp that is on the other side of the world you will have problems if you have to tell that to a Japanese person.
I'm the Princess of the Night~~
I don't forsee many "ps3 limitations" if they forget the old gen ps3 exists, slim 320 plus 300GB SATA should be good (more than good now, good in the future), they should if anything give a SATA with the purchase of FFXIV for ps3 à la FFXI with PS2.
Yeah, really wondering where that one came from... Unless somebody did and it was deleted that's just asking for somebody to do it... Sorry but it's true. Not saying they should, but yeah...
Going back on topic I wholeheartedly agree that they need to redo the auto translator. Often it's hard to do a shout to get something materia melded when I can't explain to a japanese player what item I want melded, and with what materia. Or if I'm trying to get something crafted.
Me: "I want a pair of felt kecks made. <Can you do it?>"
Player: *speaks something in Japanese*
Me: "Um... Okay." *checks the auto translator* <Weaver> <Can you do it?> *checks the translator, finds there's no phrase for Felt Kecks* ... Crap.
And especially doing dungeons, really hard then since you can't put <Aurum Vale> when it doesn't show up. Also I totally agree on the undergarments part! Type "under" and you get that instead. You'll get plenty of laughs from it, but gets annoying over time.
EDIT: And something funny, when they remove certain phrases from the translator and you have it in a macro it converts into <???> instead. I got one made for the battle regimen and it reads something like "Starting <???>! Get <Ready!>" just funny to look at that, lol.

You aren't getting <Aurum Vale> because it is in the auto-translator as <The Aurum Vale>. Just sayin'.
