I admit it's a bit amusing to have them quoted at me, as I've called myself a volunteer member of the Moon Defense Force before. Mind you, I've never actually talked to them - just given them a few friendly emotes in passing - but the treatment they received has always stuck with me as utterly, ridiculously undeserved, and I hate that they've become the go-to example when they're easily one of - if not the - least malicious and least exploitative of those who have ever done such a thing. Their only crime was being identifiable.

We could at least use an example from after the one-per rules were implemented. It'd still be edge cases, considering the loopholes in the FC restriction have always been wide enough to drive a truck through, but at least then you can argue there was a deliberate manipulation of policy.

To be fair, I was never put off by them for their multihome ownership. I understood how and why it happened. They also made a rather cringe worthy Tumblr post basically screeching about how DARE we move to /their server/. And that was when I rolled my eyes and wrote them off. (I had, at the time, relocated to Mateus before my FCmates decided to jump to Brynhildr.)

My problem with that post is that it has long since been dragged way out of context - the harassment was off the charts at the time and the raging meltdowns people were having about their existence was, well.. the kind of posting that would be right at home on this forum most days. I don't imagine they were in a great state of mind at the time. I don't think most people would have been.

You could argue they probably shouldn't have been doomscrolling the posting about themselves, but.. I think the history of social media has borne out that most people would, regardless of how detrimental it was to their well-being. Most people don't want to be, and don't know how to handle being, household names.

Maybe, I heard there were death threats and other bizarre nonsense. Which, honestly, anyone doing that probably needs to log out and touch grass if they think threatening people over pixelated houses is ok. But they didn't help themselves at all with that post, either.

I'm aware of that. It's an example of why some people buy out (or try to) entire wards for reasons other than sub farms. Or they get their hands on multiple houses scattered in variuos wards over time and when SE adds new wards, they try to relocate them all into the same ward/subdivision.

I wasn't using their example as an accusation. See above.

I've actually been somewhat of a defender for them myself in here when they come up because I know they did nothing wrong (though the rather snotty attitude they displayed in that one interview didn't do much to get others on their side).

But the housing situation now isn't what it was then, and a large number of player don't realize it was truly different back then on Mateus. They judge by what they know now.

Again, there's no specific player. There was never any specific player. This is literally about game mechanics and their impacts on the community at large. This is still an MMO after all, treating wards like crypto farms is antithesis to the entire concept.

I thought the point of this thread was to get a response about RMT sub farms specifically.

Still waiting on that evidence of "treating wards like crypto farms"...found it yet, buddy?
