Not really? Because I lost due to rng, which is something out of my control. While placard clicking actually had some form of controllability with you having to continously click in the vein hope of catching that small window of opportunity aka you had a level of control there.

I dunno, RNG may not have been as involved in the old system, which it very much was i.e. the invisible timer before the plot became available for purchase was random and if that isn't a form of RNG in your book then idk what is, but even without that luck was involved. No one else getting the house before you did, maybe less people showed up to the plot, you managed to already have a house and got to transfer in, etc. point is luck is there regardless. Frankly neither system is good in my book.

I got my house through the old system after waiting almost 12 hours and I fell asleep waiting, it was only because a friend who knew I was camping this plot who came by in the wee hours of the morning and sent me a tell that I woke up. I was planning on transferring worlds at one point for personal reasons that I will not be disclosing, but in the end I decided not to because I didn't want to have to deal with trying to get another house. Also I just feel like the lottery periods are too long. Five days to enter is far too generous in my opinion. Results period I'm iffy on but I'm not entirely sure if it's too much. I think a lottery/results period combined should last no more than a weekly cycle if they aren't going to come up with a better solution.

Housing has always been exclusive. Why do you think the number of mediums and larges are so low? But people don't like not having something so they complain.


It's the same argument as glamour: some people want to be seen and show off their creativity or their need to be gaudy. Other people take inspiration from seeing those creatives for their own designs, which wouldn't be possible in instanced housing unless they were invited.

You do realize there are levels of exclusivity right? Savage and Ultimate content are exclusive to those who choose to run them, but are still available to everyone. Same with housing. It's availale to everyone but not everyone is going to get one at all times.

You can access housing through several different methods.
If you go into an FC you can either decorate the FC house (if that's allowed to you) or an FC room.
If your server isn't crowded, you can get an Apartment.
You can be a tenant in up to 3 persons' houses.

The housing experience doesn't simply involve owning a plot either, you can literally access other peoples' houses, make use of scenarios, engage in venues and see their work.

At no point does "This game features housing" imply you will be guaranteed a house on the spot whenever you demand it. There's more to housing too.

Completely agree on the length being too long. I believe the lottery cycles should be 7 days. Starting on Tuesday (like every weeky thing does in this game) and ends on the following Monday. As for splitting up the 7 days, I think a 4-day bidding and 3-day results(be on the weekend) is more than enough time for ppl to get their bids in and see if they won or not. To bid and check the results only takes no more than one to five mins. If you can't log on for that long two times a week then maybe you not playing the game all that much in the first place. Like I know a bunch of ppl who have families and full-time jobs who can find the time to log in every day to check their island and run duns so I can't believe it's that hard to take a few mins to place a bid/check the results of the lottery. Also if it was on a weekly cycle you won't have to always check to see where the current cycle is or when a new one begins since it always starts and ends on the same days of the week every week.

Even though I lost the first round of lottery, I just did a cursory check and there's still hundreds of free plots available just on Balmung alone, let alone other worlds which would have even more considering Balmung is housing savage.

Seriously, just pop over to Goblet and you will be guaranteed to find a small plot with zero bids this round. Just don't be greedy and bid on one for now to get into housing, if the opportunity comes up next time to try for another plot of your liking, you can do that with the comfort that you still have a small house in Goblet should you lose the bid.

And their point was no one in this game is guaranteed or promised a house just by paying a subscription. Their list is what should qualify as guaranteed housing for most players.

Don't get me wrong I think the lottery is heather and better than the old system just bc it's more convenient. That said let's not kid ourselves here, the feeling is still the same when you lose. The lottery does nothing to make losing better bc its all up to rng(about like the old system was) and just like the old system you still have to watch the winner enjoy themselves bc they had better luck than you since the game makes you go back to the house to get your gil back. It also sucks for those who may one-day want to upgrade or move to a better/nicer-looking area bc all areas in this game are not created equal. Some may love the goblet and more power to them but Im one of the ppl who hates it with every fiber of my bring. So much so that I'm looking to downgrade my house just so I can be in an area I enjoy more. Anyway back on topic both systems are feelbad systems, it's just that one is more convenient than the other.

What kind of system that would allow a "less painful feeling" for the one that loses? Because we all know it is an impossibility that all the players in this game to get their own house, so there will *always* be someone that loses no matter what system they are using. there will *always* be someone that's gonna feel bad because they didn't get what they want.

Curious, what would you suggest? What kind of system that would give everyone a fancy-dory-kumbaya-happy feeling even when they lose?
