I also think demand to abandon FC and server where friends primarily play is rather unreasonable one to make. You could make an argument that 'well if they want a house that much-', but reality is, housing is presented as something that is just available rather than particularly exclusive, and there's little reason for it to not be available without limit EXCEPT the server size and storage issues that SE acknowledged in the past, and issues with securing expansions. Hence, why I do agree that instanced housing is best solution imaginable; but also acknowledge that in current constraints it is just unfeasible, and just extra wards being added over time, with priority given to servers that struggle to fill said demand, and all following the more fair roulette system is good enough alternative.

Housing has always been exclusive. Why do you think the number of mediums and larges are so low? But people don't like not having something so they complain.

Imo the only people who would be mad about IH would be those to want to show off their houses. Like I get wanting a neighborhood feel but wards are mostly ghost towns bc ppl who own houses either sit in them doing their own thing or afking in limas or some other city-state. The neighborhood dream is just that a dream and nothing more. If ppl want to be social they not going to hang out in their own wards, they going to go to a city-state or hang out inside their FC's house.

It's the same argument as glamour: some people want to be seen and show off their creativity or their need to be gaudy. Other people take inspiration from seeing those creatives for their own designs, which wouldn't be possible in instanced housing unless they were invited.

Once in the old system, I suffered through clicking a placard for 12 hours straight and in the end I was very devastated that I still didn't get anything for my effort. It was horrendous, extremely excruciating, and I absolutely question the sanity of people claiming that the old system is better because I would *not* wish such an experience to even the worst of my enemies.

Also, to anyone saying "no one wish for a small house", shut your trap cause you're not speaking for everyone. I finally get a small house in Mist near the beach and I couldn't be happier.

3m for a S? Everyone has 3m. If housing is supposed to be limited as opposed to apartments which are actually for everyone, an S house shouldn't be affordable to everyone on the server.

It's a basic demand and supply problem. Increase the price for everything to reduce the demand.
If devs can't decide what the proper price range is, let the market decide.
At this point allowing reselling would still be better than the lottery system which only causes frustration.

Before implementing the lottery system, people were willing to pay several times of the original price to buy a house. It means that the house HAS that value.
Forcing all houses to be this cheap is like trying to fit every single person in the world in public housing. It'll never work.

That and of course, strictly implement 1 house per account so that alts in the same account can't make a fake rank-6 FC to cast extra lots, as debated in another post.

Everyone does not have 3m. You should spend some time around sprouts and newer players who are just getting into glam and other unlockables.

You know this would just make the whole RMT problem even worse right ? Because a lot of people dont have 3m, contrary to what you seem to think.

An auction system could be a good idea though, if people are willing to bid high amounts for a small beach house for example, let them have at it, that means they really want it.

All I gathered from OP is that they already have a house but lost their large relocation and they're salty about it lol

Anyway, something that often gets left out of these discussions is the fact that autodemo was off for literally longer than I've been playing FFXIV. There was absolutely no housing being freed up for years outside of server transfers or the very rare voluntary demolition. It completely broke the housing system to the point all SE could do was add more and more wards as a bandaid fix that worked for about a week or two every time they did before small plots shot right back up to 100+ bids each. Huge, huge mistake on their part and hopefully something that will improve the situation a bit now that it's back. The housing system sucks and was badly thought out, but players are too invested for them to really fix it in any meaningful way, so lotto is genuinely the best and most fair solution for now unless they figure out instanced housing sometime in the near future.

Its stories like this that absolutely make me go "excuse me?" To the people advocating for the old system. How much worse it stung that you wasted so much of your time and effort just to swiped away by another just because they happen to be at the right time. I cant imagine a worse feeling as such.

The lottery does nothing to make losing better bc its all up to rng(about like the old system was) and just like the old system you still have to watch the winner enjoy themselves bc they had better luck than you since the game makes you go back to the house to get your gil back. It also sucks for those who may one-day want to upgrade or move to a better/nicer-looking area bc all areas in this game are not created equal. Not really? Because I lost due to rng, which is something out of my control. While placard clicking actually had some form of controllability with you having to continously click in the vein hope of catching that small window of opportunity aka you had a level of control there.
