Regardless of the reason, you admitted you're for blocking expression you don't like. I guess it's only okay when you do it.
A genre isn't a law. Just because something fits IN a genre doesn't mean it cannot accommodate uncommon features or playstyles for that genre.Yes it is, and it's how it should be. You either want to choose to play the product offered (an MMO) with all the things that comes with as far as how that genre works, or you can leave. *shrug* Not seeing the issue here nor do I view this as a bad thing. I see in the last few pages some whackos even stooped to the level of asking for all other players to be removed entirely. In an MMO. Clearly some people have very poor understanding of the genre they are in. I don't think a SOCIAL genre should cater to the very off-genre demands of people with antisocial tendencies and personality disorders.
"take it how it currently is or leave" and "Accept all of it and everything it implies or leave" is probably the worst ever approach to having a successful product.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
Terrible argument. I do communicate on these forums. Just with people I don't find irritating.Yes well, you also like to block people on a forum where the whole point is to discuss and be social. So if you feel it's okay to block people then maybe you shouldn't be using the forums, by your own standard. If any person in game is on your black list, then you shouldn't be playing an MMO, as you're not accepting the "social genre". You clearly have little understanding of the genre of website or game you are using.
The "whackos" in this thread demanding to hide player models are people on your side of the arguement trying to have absurd "gotcha"s.
Also, if you want to talk about abstract demands, all this gender-unlocking is purely for western culture, as I have not seen a single person from my experience on JP servers use this new feature. That was a demand from the few and it was granted for them. It seems people weren't happy with the game they were given, so they asked for change and they got it.
Not sure where the gender unlocking thing came from; I dont really care about that. I play Western MMOs like ESO where people cared about this, and eastern ones where they don't. Not my issue. That said, opening up fashion options encourages spending and isn't contrary to MMOs like the demand not to see people because your afraid of bikinis.
Your being blind to something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. My summary for the back and forth between us.Except, for the septillionth time, it's not taking control away from anyone. It's funny how you're not addressing the first part of that quote you conveniently edited out. Also funny is how this game started growing in popularity long before glamouring was even an option. Almost like glamour isn't the end all, be all for MMOs like you're trying to make it out to be.

No, I was replying to you. But I guess you couldn't see it. Nothing new here.
I mean, you can take or leave the game as is and it's genre-norm features. I mean...everyone else already does.A genre isn't a law. Just because something fits IN a genre doesn't mean it cannot accommodate uncommon features or playstyles for that genre.
"take it how it currently is or leave" and "Accept all of it and everything it implies or leave" is probably the worst ever approach to having a successful product.
Game is far more successful without this feature than it would be with.

zzzzzzzzzzzz
Will use this accidental double post to comment that the upvotes on this show people will like literally anything.

Meh... make it so if you click to hide other player's glamours they appear on your screen completely naked...
This is the only thing you replied directly to me about before this current back and forth. And speaking of anomalous player psychology: are we just going to overlook those who feel like they must be seen by everyone otherwise they can't enjoy the game?
This was edited out of the comment above. You did answer something similar to this to someone else, but not to me directly. That is not "replying to me" no matter how much you want to pretend it is. It's only one page back so anyone can go back and verify as the proof is in the pudding as they say. Of course you could always go back and edit that post to make it seem like you did reply to me directly about it when you didn't, but that would also be dishonest. So you're for a feature that can get someone permanently banned for doing something that doesn't affect you in any way, but are against a feature that wouldn't get a person permanently banned for doing something that doesn't affect you in any way? That's an incredibly weird take.
Pure speculation as the feature isn't here to have a metric to compare to.

Gamers don't die, we just go AFK
#ottergate
So the people who asked for NPCs to do all the new instances with... what.. don't count?
Not exactly a genre norm and quite "antisocial". Yet the game continues.
I'd provide a counter example but you seem fixated on one aspect of it and refuse to acknowledge that functionally this has been done in the genre, MMO, and one of exceedingly HEAVILY dependence on cosmetic sales and yet that game flourishes.

Was just saying that it is a thing, and not everyone in the world views it with the same hateful scorn as it is in the west. It was a culture shock for myself when I came here how hate and the focus on the differing political ideologies was the primary focus when it came to the learning of WW2. Which I get don't get me wrong.
