Instanced housing can exist alongside the current ward system. There is no need for a compromise, or for anyone to lose out due to it. Worst case scenario, replace apartments with exterior/interior instanced homesteads, since that's what it is. There doesn't need to be an argument that involves whether it is worth it or not. (Though, I would say it is, in the interest of fairness.)

I'll never understand why people feel like this. No one is asking for a house for free, they're asking for the opportunity to own the kind they want. That's a facet of a game. It is something you pay for. Square Enix has an obligation to make the game suck less when they can; so the critique is constructive and valid. The housing system in its entirety up until this point has sucked huge ass; specifically because it isn't instanced and is finite. Even more so because there's the supply issue varies from place to place, but the "demand" is always for plot sizes people want that they should be able to purchase if they have the gil.

The scarcity means there isn't an opportunity. Getting people to switch DCs is an option but it's not a solution; especially since the spots and sizes in question are occupied or not for sale at all.

Not to mention, playing on a foreign DC? Like after a certain point you have to reasonably just step back and say like: "Maybe I shouldn't have had to do that? Maybe it isn't my fault?"
I can understand if you're trying to be constructive, but you're kind of capitulating a little much to how awful it is to say that it's a normal thing for people to do to transfer to a foreign data center. I wouldn't have called that "unhinged," but I would say it's an observably bad kind of desperate. A little beyond what should be acceptable for a company of this size.

You aren't owed a house simply for having a subscription. From this level of reply you're not looking for a solution, you just want a gimme.
Lol okay bro, make assumptions off of nothing, I never said I was owed a house or anything of the sort, but pop off I guess. Nor did I call you unhinged, I said the solution you were offering sounds unhinged, and then you went into aggro mode because someone disagreed with you. It's a bad workaround for anyone, you shouldn't be expected to have to spend real money to have a *chance* at a house. That's just outright predatory. The solution right now is literally more wards until SE can manage something that's less of a bandaid and more of a an actual fix, which we all know probably won't be coming. The raffle system is fair (though idk how fair it is for FCs to have multiple members zerg a plot with bids, but other than that!) even if it's frustrating, pretty sure most of us here agree with that.

I have a private house, but it's -almost- useless.
    - I cannot share the house with alts
    - I don't have a workshop thus I cannot do submarines or different walls for the house,
    - I don't have "chambers" for my subtenants,
    - I lose the house if I don't enter for 35 days (no matter if subtenants enter, only the owner resets the demolition),
    - I can't decide who enter (or everyone or max 4 characters).

It's a status symbol, nothing more.
For Mao it is place where friends and FC mate gather to socialize and craft. Having house is funs!

Count Mao in as well. Mao LOVES Goblets. Mao has great view of canyon!

Well, I'm happy you two love the goblet so much. In my eyes, it's the ugliest housing area in the game. The only nice place is the Brinnming Heart but that bc it's in the center with the pool and waterfall. Meanwhile, the outer ring looks so ugly and brown. It's not just the background I hate either, it's how the yards are designed. I like my gate to be lined up with my large's door but it's not. They thought it would be a good idea to put the gate right next to the side of the building, making some house designs not work bc it blocks the gate. For example, I like the cafe design but I can't use it bc the flower beds where the dining area sits right in front of the gate to the yard. You have to walk through the flower beds to even get into the yard. That makes my yard so hard to work with to the point I can't use the design anymore. It hurts my OCD so much and is one of many reasons why I want out of the goblet no matter what. No house design looks good with a goblet large and its yard. I'm even willing to give up my large and move into a med(sorry I have way too many items to go back to a small at this point) in an area I will actually like to look at. As I said in another post my large also reminds me of a really good friend with who I had a huge fallen out since they were the ones who found it and lend me the money for it. They are also the ones to talk me into buying back in SB even though I never wanted a large. I just wanted a med bc smalls are the way to small and I had so many items I wanted to use.

See I'm different bc I want to live in an area nowhere like the place I live irl. I live in the south where I never see snow(which I love snow ALOT) so that is why I want to live in ishgead badly but thanks to this lottery system and the limited amounts meds and lrgs I most like never will. I'll never be able to be in an area I actually like, or a yard I want to make it look nice. You call ishgard a snow hell but I call it heaven. The real hell for me is the goblet and it's a hell I most like never be able to escape from either...

This isn't OCD. Please stop spreading a stereotype that is incorrect while making it harder for people with actual OCD to be understood.

    Same here!

I spent a lot of time searching for a plot I liked, and whilst the others did appeal I found a specific plot at the Goblet which I knew I wanted.

Granted it's a Small house but to be honest, it suits me just fine - it has a Market board on it's doorstep, an Aetheryte shard right oposite (aside from my own mini-Aetheryte on my plot) and this:

I absolutely love the view from the rear of the house.
And the bonus was that the Goblet not being to everyone's taste worked in my favour - I had no competition for the plot on the Ward I selected.

    Hm...

I have no idea how to say this nicely, so I think I'll skirt around and try not to say it other than a parallel:

Imagine being a wealthy person irl who lives in a mansion but is so particular they'd rather move out of it into a smaller mansion, but not into a normal house because they have "too much stuff", because they don't like the location, but are unwilling to move into a smaller house (because they have too much stuff), and instead complain that they can't find either another mansion or a smaller mansion (that is still a mansion) in a location they like. Kind of some "I don't want this 7 course meal because I dislike some of the dishes...but I can't eat at a normal person restaurant, I need at least 5 courses..." thing.

I get everyone's their own person with their own way of thinking about things...but this seems very......I can't think of a not negative sounding word to describe it, so I just will leave it at that.

    .

If you really like snow, try a Small in Ishgard.

I guess there's a point in life where you have to ask yourself what is most important to you since you can't have everything you want. Is the setting? Is the size? Is getting out of the home with bad memories? And based on the answer to that question - What is the most important to you? - pick one and don't look back or complain about it.

If you can't stand being in a Small and what you have is the only non-Small you have access to, and not living in a Small is the most important consideration, stay in your Large and be happy/don't complain. If the setting is most important to you, then strip the stuff you can't replace and that matters to you most from the house and grab a Small in Ishgard. If getting out of the home with bad memories is most important, find a Small ANYwhere, or even just let the Large go and go homeless so you don't have to deal with those bad memories.

Pick what's most important to you and embrace that, and once you do, don't look back and don't complain, because you chose what was most important to you and you can't have everything; don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. That's among the best advice I've ever been given in life.

    EDIT:

Yeah I'm kinda sad that the Goblet is the least popular ward. To me it looks really nice, and is, IMO, much more appealing than Mist, and WAY better than Ishgard (I'm biased against snow areas though LOL). Oh well, less competition lol

Same tbh. I had a poolside medium there which I was told is a good spot but the orange tiles everywhere and the lack of good scenery were really off putting. All the other regions have something special about them, like the sea or plants or snow. I hope you are able to get out soon.
