Oh I wasn't talking about swapping to ilvl 1 pieces after queuing in. I was talking about setting up your gear in a way where you're happy with your non-glamour look while still meeting ilvl requirements. Like having i630 acccessories and a hat, but wearing the level 89 artifact set for your chest, gloves, pants, and legs. Your ilvl would be 605, which is still enough to queue for Euphrosyne for example, if all your other gear was 630.

Why do you want someone to see it, when they don't want to see it? It's a negative experience for them on their screen. Not yours.
It's a negative experience for me knowing there are players who would see me running around in the ugly current ilvl gear we have available right now. Like on my healer, build, my BiS pants are a long, puke green skirt. Also BiS is typically a combination of tomestone gear and raid gear, so wouldn't disabling glamour make most characters end up looking like nightmare clowns?

So are you really saying that the mere possibly someone sees your character in some mismatch gear, is that large of an issue to you? Even though you would have no way to really confirm if someone is using it, and you would largely have to make an assumption that people are using it because the feature is an option? Do you not see how weird that is? Cause I can tell you right now with the power of mods you can turn characters into w/e on your own client. Yet, I assume this does not phase you that much, so if you can ignore because a small group may be using it, you can do the same for a large group. It is not like they will be knocking on your door and reminding you they are not lookin at your glam.

Sorry, you're right. I shouldn't be bothered if my character looks like a hideous walking nightmare clown to other people. It'd probably be even worse for immersion than at least a consistent outfit, cause you'd have someone walking around in a bargain store reject skirt and a literally flaming full-plated body suit from hell. But screw me for wanting others to think I have any sense of style.

That is the joy's of options, one can choose to use it or not. If they feel it would be worse they are free to not use it. Also if someone is using this option I highly doubt they will be like yo, this person cannot even match colors, well because you know it is a glam hide option so of course the glam will be hidden. No one will hold it against you I promise.

That said for the mod that I did, swaps the character model into a generic NPC with a robe. It does bug out often, and SE probably could make a more stable one, but that said in that case you would not have to worry cause your own character model would not even be seen. If they went that route in our perfect world. Granted, do not worry this will never happen.

Yeah why not? It does not remove lalafell from the game, those that play and wish to see them are still free to do so. I fail to see what point you are trying to make? That is the whole point of making it optional it becomes a personal choice on what the person sees on their screen while still being able to enjoy the game. As it stands the only real choice people have is to deal with it or quit. From a community PoV seems weird to rather have people quit because they do not want see something instead of just giving them to the tools to avoid what they do not want to see.

My point is that when you make concessions like this for one asinine request you need to start making concessions for more and more asinine requests.
"But you gave the anti-glamour people a toggle and the anti-lalafel people a toggle. Where is my anti-male viera toggle?"
"Oh so you caved for the anti-male viera toggle people. When do we get our anti-lore breaking character name toggle?"
"So now people can hit a toggle and they don't even know what my actual character name is but I'm still forced to look at mounts I don't like to see?"
"Wow you let people hide specific mounts they don't want to see but there's no toggle option to hide chocobo barding from showing up on my screen!??!"
Then before you know it the devs are spending more time than necessary implementing a hundred different toggles so everybody can feel like a special snowflake in their own personally tailored MMO experience that other parts of the game start to suffer. They'll also start second guessing every decision they make in the future and question if the things they're doing will offend special interest groups A-1 to Z-24 and how their decisions may interact with all of these toggles for toggling things on and off.
At that point they may as well just shut down the servers, convert it into a single player game, and release some mods tools for it.

The absolute worst thing any dev team for any MMO can do is dump even the smallest amount of energy into unimportant, niche problems like this. It is a perpetual slippery slope that also distracts from actual, legitimate problems with the game and sweeps them under the rug because taking care of all these lesser non-issues still makes it look like they're doing a lot when real problems still get ignored or get ineffective band-aids. Like the ever abysmal state of player housing, or the fact that Crystal Conflict is filled with people using targeting hacks just to name a couple.
