It's not really that hard to understand. An option in-game to alter another person's appearance even if it's just on your side makes people uncomfortable. This is true to mods as well. Whether it's a logical reaction or not is another matter entirely, but I dare say requiring an option to hide other peoples glamour options isn't exactly brimming with logic either, especially since the game is a MMO and one if it's appeals is the ability to make any sort of character you wish and perceive other players doing so as well. Surely you must've realized that before hitting install.

Guild Wars 2 manages to do just fine as an MMO with this feature. It's not out of the ordinary for people on here to look at other MMOs and request features that other MMOs have either. It just seems to have an initial visceral reaction that causes rage in people, the idea that their glam they're so proud of, might be something other people find ugly or annoying.
I mentioned chat macros in another reply, it's the same there. I've had many people in roulettes, party finder, etc who have dropped sound effect messages over and over or witty macros about people parsing low when someone eats a mechanic, and they are shocked, absolutely shocked when someone asks them to stop. The idea that their funny, witty jokes aren't actually that funny causes a visceral reaction in them that they have to push back and lash out on whoever asked, no matter how nice they ask. I imagine it's the exact same with the people who are so adamant that this discussion be shut down immediately. The idea that their shirtless glam or Swimsuit Roe glam isn't that funny or cool as they think upsets them and they want ot be told that people actually like it and don't want to hear that yes, people do want to hide their character for it.
