When you then realize, that you have much less nice glam options and less glam options in general than other players, just because of the gender and the race you choose, than that limits the fun.
It's just unfair. That's why people care. And it is a problem on the developer's side.

But to complain about the glam of other players is really unnecessary in my opinion. It does not limit your own glamour experience and options. : )

I guess your fun is the "correct" way to have fun. Glad we don't have to worry about pesky things like a middle ground. : )

What other players glam does not affect our own glam options. So it doesn't really matter.
But when you have less or/and less good options from the developers side, this is a point to speak about.
This has nothing to do with 'my' way of having fun. Redirecting to me personally is not a good argument.

I leave the discussion now. Have a good time you all. :3

I would downright give away my ability to wear female glams if it meant I could use the male glams instead. Especially for single-gear glam.

If you see a lot of players wearing something, then maybe that just means they all think it looks good.
At least, the skimpy outfits look better on the bulky males than they would on my gender-appropriate lalafell.

Most female gear looks atrocious on male characters and square doesn't put in the effort to change that at all. All degendering gear does is give female ARR race characters more glam options, which they already have pretty much everything under the sun. What irks me the most about it is they charge you 10 dollars if at some point after character creation you realize you're playing a race or gender that the devs don't care about adding new glams or gear for.
Third type of people who want degendered gear: people who genuinely want to dress their male characters in feminine outfits, not to troll but because they like the style.

Fourth type of people (hi): people who don't want to dress their male characters in overtly feminine outfits but still want to make use of certain female-locked gear pieces.

Also, one of my characters is a male Viera quite similar to yours, and there is still loads of gear that looks good on him. It's just not the gear that you're expected to pay $20 to acquire.

I saw a lot of hroth who really like the dirndl top and its not even that draggy/crossdressy of a gear piece its just a cute shirt.

So I work with color for a living and color theory is something I strongly care about. And this may surprise you, but a pretty big portion of the player base has pretty awful taste in color. And while I personally think a lot of outfits I see in this game are hideous because people don't know how color works, that doesn't mean I think they should lose the option to dye outfits whatever color they want. If someone is happy wearing ugly af metallic colors that clash with one another, I'm happy they have that choice. I want people to have options to make their character look however they want because it's their WoL and their experience.

If I who's entire career is based around caring about color can be okay with the bulk of the community having awful color sense, you guys can be okay with gender locking being removed. You see I developed this skill called not zooming in and staring at characters I don't want to look at. It's pretty easy to do. Don't want to see a hrothgar living his best life in a dress? You don't have to look at him. If he's happy that's all that matters and you can just live your lives not caring what others wear.

The 14 fanbase is religiously antifun idk why.
You get a bunch of conservative genderrole adherent grannies in the forum who dont want to see players in anything besides the current walking refigerator tank gear.
God forbid the franchise thats in love with Rule of Cool have fun crap for players to wear oh no its not "lore appropriate" (because tifa kickboxing underwater 200ft godmonsters in a tubetop and skirt is so like so for real and believable), no the hrothgar in a frilly gown (nevermind thats all healer gear or caster gear so lets just not let men play those jobs while we're at it!) or the femra in the faire joi while playing drk is actively ruining MY IMMERSION! MY IMMERSIOOONUGGGJUGJUBUBFG its just utterly baffling people are playing a final fantasy game and hate players dressing silly. like...this is not dragon quest sweeties.

Why should I be ok with it? It's removing things that were exclusive to my character type and giving it to a character type that already has more than I do. And in return I get... nothing that I want in return.
Hell, I can't even wear hats on my character.

Random take unrelated to the topic but I kinda want more Dragon Quest-esque outfits with the tunics and tabards and the obligatory bunny suit.

You might not agree with me, but this is what peak Hero aesthetics looks like.
