Yeah, SE is too strapped for cash buying up more monkey jpegs for future NFT gaming campaigns to update the whole engine for XIV.
But at least you'll get nicer grass.

Yes... please think of me... I've had shares in Squaresoft and Enix before the merger... >.>
Engine is basically the heart or core of the game. While possible to upgrade it will either result in having to remake all associated assets along with the engine which as ppl said will basically be making a new game. Or Upgrading the existing engine itself keeping compatibility with existing assets which will normally severely limit what you can do in regards to upgrading it. FFXIV also has another issue however often referred to as spaghetti code where code as changed a bit at certain points resulting in layers that rely on the current engine to keep from unraveling.

Oh good, you can ask the other CEOs this during the next meeting:
WHERE IS THE NEW DANCE SUMMIT, ENIX?! YOU HAVE BEEN PROMISING THAT WE WOULD GET A NEW BUST A MOVE/DANCE SUMMIT SINCE 2002.
what's that? a dancing game? do ppl actually still play those? from all the things I've seen from ppl streaming playing ring fit on switch... is the playerbase of those games still in good enough shape to play those games? killing consumer base with heart attacks isn't good business model lol XD
I'm bugging them for Dragon Quest Builders 3, Global Dragon Quest X release, a 3d open world secret of mana game that brings back classic mechanics like weapon interactions on the environment to unlock places or cross terrain, and development of full dive VR tech to use with upcoming MMO FFXXX >.>
