    yeah I was lost by what point they were trying to make...... I have always called them toons instead of characters because when I started playing, I played with a bunch of people from other MMOs who called them toons.

    A lot of WoW players use that terminology, XI did not as far as I can remember. I guess the point they are making is that it isn't used in XIV and so they would rather you use the local customs so to speak. However, feel free to use whatever term you want. It will just immediately make people think you are foreign, and you will get comments like that to try and get you to belong more.

    For example French will get annoyed when Americans come to their country and behave in an American manner. Quite a few of them will be rude to you because of it as well.
