This is a filler arc. It's not meant to be 'life-changing philosophical storytelling' like Endwalker was, or a 'flawlessly written post-apocalyptic isekai' like Shadowbringers. It's basically "Hey, we need a short story involving an established threat, to lead into the next major story arc. I know, let's do an FF4-inspired story that deals with the voidsent, they've been quiet for a while".
Wish it was more filling then. Cause these bread crumbs of plot advancement are wearing thin. And YES I understand that the whole point of post Endsinger was for the plot to take a breath. And I can appreciate that. Having lower stakes for once is nice. No one cares if we save the 13th or not so we don't have to feel the crushing weight of all existence relying on us. It is legitimately nice to have a mission where we are doing it cause why not? We're bored. This place looks interesting and fun monsters to kill.

But we are big badless. We have no sense of what is coming next. And if we have nothing to look forward to we tend to look really really hard at what we are doing now and seeing its flaws more and more.
