    It didn't fail, no. You are correct. But it wasn't universally praised by the player base either. A lot of people simply never bothered, and I don't blame them. I've gone through the relic process twice in Eureka, and I've returned a couple of other times just for some of the armor sets for glamour. Can't say I enjoyed the experience any of those times, and I'm far from alone in feeling this way. Even Bozja was more popular, but I think that was mostly because of the easy access and lower time investment required to do anything.

    What, tagging mobs? It's super nerfed in Eureka. You get 0 exp depending on what level the killer was, and if the % you dealt was low. It's why people get pissed when you AoE a pull and you're not in their party, you've effectively culled the exp by half or more if they were leveling and not trying to spawn. It completely discourages coop unless you're the same exact level.

    Which you can't easily tell if someone's leveling or trying to spawn to begin with, so there's a lot of shouting sometimes. Always best to ask for a party before making assumptions. Then of course you can't gain exp if someone's a few levels higher in the party. lol

    I love Eureka, I just think the barrier to entry really sucks. Me helping someone lower level by them soloing and me only being able to heal them does not feel good. Especially when I know 2-3 players doing a proper tank/dps group running big pulls gives you massive exp comparatively.

    System's all jacked up.

    I tried Eureka as well. I tried playing it with two people, tried playing it with someone who knew the ins and outs of it. It wasn't fun, it stimulated barely any casual talk because when low level it's not as faceroll. At the end of the day we're just killing mobs, but navigating to avoid hard hitters was annoying as heck especially when getting to FATEs.

    I got to Pagos before I lost the third friend I played with, and haven't gone back since. Don't know where to start. The zone dies some more each passing day, so I feel some actual FOMO for not trying to tear through content I hate sooner when it had people.

    I dislike Bozja as well, did CLL and was so relieved to be done with a segment like that that I haven't gone there either.

    Do tell me the point of the zone again and again, tell me how it's genius to clone decades old design, how it's masterfully imitating FFXI. Would just make me resent that the creators thought cloning content from another game and making it such a huge part of an expansion is a good idea.

    Honestly, they did a poor job of imitating FF XI. It's one of those things you'd have to experience for yourself to really understand. FF XI was brutal and frustrating, but it was rewarding and magical, in my opinion. I have never experienced anything quite like it, and I likely never will again. Every step you took was hard won, but that made the journey memorable. Eureka was a lot of things. FF XI wasn't really one of them. A few references and a couple of pieces of FF XI glamours doesn't really change that. They threw us some glamour pieces, added some reskinned bosses with the same names as their FF XI counterparts and told us to grind Fates until we wanted to vomit. That was not FF XI. That was FF XIV Fate grinding with a not-so-fresh coat of paint.

    I don't think there's any content in the game everyone likes. Instead of complaining about old content you dislike use that time to get things done.

    Anemos is the extremely slow part due to low numbers but you can just challenge log through it with like 2(?) completions? Fill your challenge log, go do something else until next reset, fill log again and be done with Anemos. The next three zones, join content achievers discord, find some farmers on your DC, join a FATE train and complete the rest of the three zones in a week (you'll need to farm a lot more for bunnies and relics but if you just want to get to Baldesion Arsenal then minimal farming is required). You can complete Hydatos in like an hour with a friendly reaper.

    I feel like it would have done that for me... had it just been a bit more polished.

    The active deterrents from playing with friends of higher level, the poor scaling for low-player instances, the ill-conception of the Elemental Wheel, the (slightly, to significantly) excessive grind lengths, the lack of things to do between NMs and basic mob farms (no elite mobs nor set mob packs with varied or synergetic abilities to strategize against), and other small issues weighed badly against what otherwise would have been, I suspect, broadly seen as some of the most fun and iconic duties attempted at the time.

    I do get things done, but after I get it done there is another thing I want to do and it is gated behind content I find dull.
