I believe some math is in order: (post is long so I am sorry in advance)

Series rank 25 requires an individual to acquire a total of 108,000 Series Rank EXP

Frontlines, being a mode where there are 3 different outcomes, is a bit difficult to average per say, but generally speaking if you were to get a perfectly even amount of games where you come in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd an equal number of times, this would be equate out to roughly 108 games. FL games run, on average, 15 mins from my experience so this would roughly take, on average, 27 hours to complete assuming the average.

Crystalline Conflict on the other hand is a bit easier to math out correctly since there are two possible outcomes. Assuming the average, this would be 137 rounds of Crystalline Conflict. The shorter match timer does speed things up, but a single overtime where a stalemate occurs can easily cause the match to run as long as two or three matches since overtime's time limit is theoretically infinite. As such, the average time used will be equal to the duration of a match, being 5 mins. Using this metric, the average time required for CC is about 11.4~ hours total.

Note none of the calculations consider queue timers as well as the time taken before each match where you are stuck in spawn. Admittedly, while I could math out Rival Wings, the issue here is that there is a finite amount of time per day where it is possible to queue RW since it does not have a daily attached to it and it is not the fastest method to acquire series rank, meaning unless you are keen on DC travel, this method will naturally be the longest due to the active window for matches being lowest.

Finally, it should be noted that PvP in its current state is extremely unbalanced. It is not quite like PvE content where (to an extent) every job is viable in the content to a degree. Solo queuing into PvP will generally show that there are jobs that have a natural advantage for generating wins for you and your team, provided you know what you are doing and you team knows how to capitalize on what you are doing. As such, there are also jobs that tend to favor queuing with someone else due to the level of team play those jobs need to be fully effective, which for CC is an issue since you can only solo queue into this format. As such, even by quantifying how long it would take to do said grind, there is a high chance that your job is not cut out for particular PvP modes due to the balancing, resulting in more losses than wins.

tl;dr you can do it in a day via CC but you will hate yourself at the end of it due to imbalanced and unfun game design

People need to git gud. Plain and simple. They could throw a dozen more game modes on and it still would be miserable if all the same people were showing up taking the same approach.

player skill is not the issue here, CC is alright but it does need some changes or an addition of party queues. People already time their queues with friends and mess about, was fun before but now they're doing it to be toxic.
first season we all saw the Everyone attack! spammers, but now people actively seek you out and gang up on you, emote on your dead body cause you killed them 3 times inside a skirmish in other matches :'D
same people would then get queued with you a day later and would throw the match just cause they're on your team with their friend in the other.

pvp definitely needs different modes and either allow party queues or none at all (que with friends at the same time).but mostly, they really need something better than a trash mob dragon to entice people to go for 75% series lol

OP, PvP will always be trash tier in MMORPGs, there’s too many variables to balance it. Devs from every studio can’t balance classes in PvE, so imagine in PvP ! It’s unrealistic. Just go play another genre and other games that are made only with PvP in mind. Those games usually have a good learning curve and reward you for doing well.

In FFXIV like every MMO it’s messy and class/job based, so you’ll always get crushed no matter how well you play because the class/job can’t compete vs X. Or because X class/job is overpowered and helps the most bad player win not due to skill and focus but because their abilities are busted. And you need to wait months for hardly any proper fixes, years for Fail Wars 2. The core design of MMOs just doesn’t fit a good PvP scene, no matter how hard some try to pretend it is. It’s like wanting to turn a truck into a F1 car, you’ll only end up disappointed. There’s a reason why MMOs aren’t popular for PvP.

Just play Frontline/CC casually and for chilling with friends, it’s all they’re good at. The gitgud trolls no doubt do the same in this dead mode.

As for rewards to attract players, just give some freaking glams. Look at how well the «*battlepass*» of the first deason did, because many wanted the armor. Now you get a crappy mount retexture, and a very easy emote to obtain on the first row.

Probably never or in a moogle treasure trove someday. Who knows? They made that clear though.

It's not that different from the old feast stuff, you also can't just get the old feast mounts and gear. So pvp was always limited. This time you just have it easier and don't need a metric ton of wintrading to get your stuff.

It was a misunderstanding/mistranslation to my understanding that you would be able to earn previous series rewards in the following series. The slides from the live letter this was introduced in do say things should be getting added to a vendor somewhere in the future but how far into the future is rather unclear.

I would also stress regardless of how long one had to achieve it, it is still FOMO as many would cite items that lasted far longer elsewhere as also FOMO to get people to play, such as WoW's legendary quests for MoP and WoD that had their questlines removed after their expansions despite having almost a year for both it was still FOMO. As this game encourages the player to take breaks I find it hard to justify the current pvp series rewards as not FOMO inducing as there is no info on a guaranteed return point for them. Just knowing "Yeah they will be added to the Trophy Crystal vendor in 7.xx" would be a huge relief.

Dude, it takes like 10 seconds to find studies on the subject. It's a very real thing.
