The shield he uses at the beginning of the Hollow phase works like the old Stoneskin spell. It absorbs a certain amount of damage, so the only way to break it is to just keep hitting him.

At the end, when he casts Double Edge, all hits by and against him are automatic critical hits, turning it into a DPS race to drop him before he eats the tanks and starts murdering everyone.

I remembered this particular Dun Scaith run from last week where it was all smooth sailing until last boss at 2nd phase where there was one random MNK who thought they had a galaxy brain plan... to tell the entire alliance to 'hold back dps until shield falls off.' It was later revealed that homie never knew the shield also guarantees a critical hit from whatever Diabolos throwing, including autos and tankbusters. Surely enough when all 3 tanks fell real fast things get super chaotic to the point of wiping. That was one funny spectacle.

Uh...I wasn't a monk at the time but I've said that myself before. I had no idea it was a shield you had to break. Seems I wasn't the only one who thought this. At least now if I make a call out about it I'll be correct for once. Thanks for the tip.

There really isn't anything I can do to counteract all those crits/tankbusters if tanks don't mitigate.

The other day I got Sohm Al Hard and got a mnk the wasn't aoeing at all. So after the 1st boss I ask hey mnk you going to aoe on the trash? Which for some reason the tank replies always. I reply with but they're not. No other talk after this. I then also do my best to single target. However that is a bit difficult on smn unless you just ruin spam. I did end up doing so with festers. The only reason I knew they weren't aoeing is because I'd not only see them go for positionals and snap punch's animation being shown. I then thought well maybe the tank n the mnk are friends. Unless they were cross server friends they weren't. It was odd as the only time I've had someone pipe up to defend someone else for their poor play in the way the tank did is if they're friends or FC mates. I play with show limited on for others and there are some animations that have enough of a distinct look to them that when you see them you know what they are. And yes that was the only problem. Except for myself being the only one who knew or remembered how to do the dungeon. Thankfully I got targeted for the lava pool drops on the final boss every time.

You mean every time I get battle on the big bridge and battle in the big keep where dps has to slow down cause people ignore my telling them how to not get everyone turned into chickens or minied or frogs?

Been farming the tomes for the event, and I must say I miss the older version at least the bosses melted. As a healer it pains me how long bosses take to die at times when your two dps are Meh.

Only need four more runs.

I was one of those players as well until I learn how to read debuff bar. Shame was entirely mine lmao.
