Merry Christmas OP & anyone else reading this.
Merry Christmas OP & anyone else reading this.
Yeah that is why someone told the OP that they were going to report them. Clearly it was seen as a harmless action by all.
Sorry is a waste of space and I think in reality the thought that counts does not fly. Trash is trash.

If someone told you no, did you leave them alone?
Spreading cheer & goodwill? I wouldn’t mind that… if I know you.
That’s right, I don’t know what strangers’ thinking, unfortunately. Depending on what you meant by ‘interaction’, a simple DM asking permission to do just that wouldn’t get much of a pushback. But if said interaction is something like an abrupt trading/invitation request… please no. Granted, I wouldn’t react with such animosity, but remember that at the moment, it’s an “I don’t know you—you don’t know me”-situation. It’s only right to ask, or better yet, just give a shout (not spam!) letting the zone know where you are & to trade you if they want to.
"Outside obvious jokes/sarcasm, I aim to convey my words to the future readers who may come across mine posts. Can I change -your- mind, somehow? Potentially... but that's not why I'm writing. You and I have wrote our piece(s). We don't necessarily need to change each other's mind. But we can change other's."
There are 364 other days of the year to show kindness and plenty of other ways to do so. Again, consider the recipients & bystanders and where they might be coming from if they don't respond well. It's better to just let them be and leave things alone. I swear we had one of these threads last year. with me saying the same thing.![]()
While I wouldn't be the type to snap at you that way, and think that the person acted just a smidge unreasonably, people here suggesting that announcing your want to trade out cookies and such have a sensible take. Either way sorry that you had that happen on Christmas, and I hope you had a nice one nonetheless.

Someone didn't get any presents irl seems like and need to take it on others :/
Sometimes we just wish our closest family could still be with us and join us.
After losing my sister to breast cancer, I shifted from the "yay xmas" side to the "damn, this time of year is tough" side.
One can put on a brave face. and be nice to strangers, but by gosh, that grief gets tough at this time of year.
(Still no cause for OP's grump to be a grump though - sometimes this community just sucks)

It's all about how/what goes down.
No idea how you go about it, so I'll write out how I do it- it's never gotten me any trouble in the years of doing it.
(How I do it)
Annually, I do a shout to give away the Dream Tunic set in all 3 cities, but I shout only once every 15 min, with a smaller yell every 5..and even then there's a "Sorry for the spam" line.
The shout is 4 lines, explaining what I'm doing and that if people want it to come to me at the Skywatcher and /trade me.. or stand around me jumping and I'll trade you as I can.
I don't move around, I don't aggressively /trade randomly/unsolicited, etc. If people say they already have it I tell them they can regift or sell it if they like, I don't care
After 30m to an hour, I move on to the next city (Depends on the vibe/if people are crowding and having fun/playing music).
I'm not saying my way is THE way, but I am curious what if anything you were doing differently to get an idiot mad at you. Who knows right? Maybe you were just standing in their "designated spot" -_-.
