By 'handing out', what do you mean OP? How were you handing the presents out?

Much bigger fan of putting it in shout chat that you are handing out cookies in a spot instead of random trading people. Can be a real put off when some rando opens a trade and you have no idea who they are/what they want.
I would love to have a cookie!
PS: The lest you realize, unawares to you, might’ve brought a stranger’s day more than joy & serenity & will feel acknowledged by such grace.
Don’t feel staggered therefore

Games and the internet in general, have a way of bringing out the odd people.I was handing out cookies to folks in Limsa when a person whom I never interacted with came up to me and said "idc, go away, or get reported for harassment" When do folks say enough is enough with 4heads like this? all I was doing was spreading good cheer to folks and giving cookies out to others. So I stopped and left limsa....what a way to spoil things for others who only have good intentions. I would name and shame them but I would get in trouble.
Whether people were busy or not, it never warranted a threat to report.
How low brow are players now? you say boobie, or poop...hand out a cookie and people go nuts (cause they are nuts i think)
Was a nice gesture op ignore the oddballs in the game.♥
♥ MORE HIGH HEELS + INSTANCED HOUSING! ♥!
If you aren't breaking the rules, someone threatening to report you means absolutely nothing.
GM's are not a secret weapon you can turn on anyone who does anything you dislike. They'll just get in trouble for misusing the report function. Ignore it.

Next time just use shout chat or /tell and ask if they want it. Some people just don't want to interact with you and that's okay.
But no, random trades cannot get you in trouble so long as you're not trade-blocking someone to prevent them from leaving (which I've experienced, it's... genuinely frustrating). They may have thought you were doing/attempting to do that. The thread title is a bit inflammatory, you have to admit.

I mean at the end of the day you're trading them a near-worthless food item that takes up inventory space
