Doesn't matter how they did this, since there is an almost 0% chance they would have done both for the event, people would complain.

Can I use "free" outfit everywhere I go? yes
Can I use the mount (even the pay ones) everywhere I go? No.

Maybe dunno, what about " complete a few fates or clear any of the latest savage raids and get the outfit" so maybe, i mean MAYBE this company will endorse people to do something else beside capping tomes.

Compare that to past events, where it had costumes that anyone could wear. Furniture that people with apartments could utilize. etc.

I am comparing to past events.

Not every event had a costume, and the majority (if not all) events give away some kind of housing item, including outdoor items, despite their relatively low usability.

The events always oscillate between decent rewards and mediocre rewards. There are times we get outfits and times we do not. This is a time we do not, but it is not the first time it has happened.

We got an outfit for All Saints' Wake, and we're apparently getting one for Valentione's. As much as I personally prefer getting glamour over mounts, minions, barding or whatever else they want to invent, I know that they tend to alternate and (after getting over the disappointment that the Far Northern set isn't for Starlight after all) I'm not really surprised that it's a non-glamour round this time.

Besides, I know about gatcha games. I bought pokemon blue when it came out and my friend got red so we can get all 150 of them.

Neither Pokemon Red or Blue would be considered a gacha game, although collecting them all is the objective, there are no in-game purchases to obtain any of them. It is still considered to be an RPG because of that fact.

The Pokemon trading card game has some characteristics of a gacha game but spending money to collect new cards is the aim of all trading card games. players are well aware of the fact and fairly conscientious when it comes to spending money.

Pokemon Masters is definitely a gacha game, in that you spend money in-game for a chance to receive characters or items in what is essentially an in-game lottery. It is so very easy to spend that money without realizing it, and players can quickly become addicted.

People like you should try and play other games. FFXIV throw you a bone every 4-5 months and you are happy with it.

No, FFXIV is not a gacha game. Gacha games are, however, the purest representation of monetization, of which a cash shop is the least offensive method of obtaining cash from game players. My response to the poster was with regards to their apparent despair that game companies would like to make more money from people who enjoy their game.

We can blame Star Wars, probably. That movie was the first to capture money from viewers of the movie by encouraging them to purchase toys.

Did you personally vote in the VGA this year? I didn't. If someone else won, do you expect that game company would have given out more than a tweeted thank you to the voters? Did you vote expecting some kind of reward?

People like me constantly play other games. We also binge watch Chinese Dramas, read books, listen to K-Pop and Classical music, and post on game forums occassionaly, among other things.

Personally, I learned the art of taking down time from any single game well over two decades ago.

Hrothgars can wear Elemental Helm of Fending while us Vieras can't ;<

Hrothgar wearing helms that have no /visor to show faces, do not account for hroth snouts and very noticably replace heads with middy head small models is not a "win" for hrothgar over viera in any capacity.
Lets also not ignore viera got 2 patches of hair updates hrothgar didnt get, hroth still cant use their own racial styles on other faces, and it took the devs an entire 5 month patch cycle to fix the hideous ear issue on the handmedowns viera got at the launch of endwalker.
Viera are the golden child the devs give a crap about, hrothgar are in the basement chained to a chair watching old movies like Sloth in The Goonies.

hot take: I don't mind store items as long as they feel on par to ingame rewards. This time we get a mount, so I think it's fair, but if the reward was just some dumb food plate, I'd be as upset as anyone else.

Honestly I think this is the worst offender because it exposes that the devs still think Hroths and Viera are a "2x1" rather than entirely different races. I, for one, would rather get one hairstyle that actually looks good per expansion, than getting 6 generic Karen bobs that look objectively bad, but "inclusivity" or whatever I guess.

Oh, nah I don't see that as a win at all. I do recall the hrothgar not getting those hair styles while us vieras did. Yeah..really sucks Hro get that kind of treatment. ;<
