Tried it, but roleplay was mostly localized since Zodiark isn't all that with RP. Best I got has been in a Linkshell with friends and with my FC.
I generally tended to play two characters, though: my main, who's a Bozjan resistance veteran and his Garlean brother.
My main kept his father's gunblade and tried to learn how to use it once he joined the Resistance, and kept his father's values to heart. Not only was he traumatized by the events at Delubrum Reginae, he also got caught by the Ajora cultists who took to replicating Hashmal's sacrifice to revive Ultima. It failed, naturally, and he managed to resist the transformation long enough for the cure to be administered in time. Since it wasn't full-on tempering, it still worked. But his aether is a little wonky with fire and earth because of that, so he needs to be constantly monitored until the effects can be negated completely.
On the other hand, his brother was the exact opposite. He rejected his father's values. He saw Gunbreakers and his father as failures who "lied" to themselves and the population, pretending to be worthy protectors where they were just people in high positions with no idea what they were doing. Eventually it led to their incompetence (as he perceives it) when it came to protecting Bozja, and the loss of his mother. So he embraced Garlemald altogether in a bid for power and joined the IVth Legion. He's defected since the Civil War in Garlemald started. He hopes to take a group of Bozjans, Dalmascans and Landisians, as well as several other members of different legions, to take the broken capital and establish a new order with him as the leader.
But, again, didn't do much with them. Can't do much when there are no chances to explore that :|
My only major experience was serving/cooking in a coffee shop owned by Bozjan refugees in Eorzea. The whole thing was framed as trying to expand on Bozjan history and culture by serving food and making up the lore of how the dish came to be. Was pretty chill and wholesome if you ask me.
