Credit card fraud (and/or the RMT element) was the reason why gift codes went away but due to the fact this game is made out of wet paper bags (as is just about every Japanese developed game), we'll never actually get a functional store front unless we wait for the next SE MMO. It's sad and annoying, yes, but it is what it is.
Give them a /dote :3
They're a bit aggressive, but they have a point. Read the quote below.
I really dislike how we seem to be stuck on this cycle of people crying over mogstore limitations, then being told off because it was a necessary evil to prevent credit cards companies and banks from blacklisting SE from service. It's been said so many times. Please, let it sink in already.Credit card fraud (and/or the RMT element) was the reason why gift codes went away but due to the fact this game is made out of wet paper bags (as is just about every Japanese developed game), we'll never actually get a functional store front unless we wait for the next SE MMO. Amazing. Now imagine applying this same generosity and effort to RL communities for families and individuals who can't even afford an internet connection. We have traditionally run a Secret Santa Christmas event every year. It was my absolute favourite community event. Everyone gets dressed up, we dress the house up and give sit around Santa to give our gifts.
By far the most popular gifts were mounts and minions. I cannot think of one incident in all the years we've been doing this that someone bought something for someone that already had it. You simply check your recipients lodestone or those collectors sites to see what people already have before you buy.
The reason Mog gifts were so popular is because we have a large community of casual players who just have not got enough gil to buy what they'd like. Working professionals who'd rather spend money.
We also had our community split in half with players leaving for OCE while the rest of us stayed on NA for various raid committments. Mogstation gifts would have let us still run our event cross region (if people chose to use Mog, I would have organised an "either or" for cross region.)
Now it's like, we've split up, we can't give gifts other than fantasia or dye... do we bother? It just feels like the FU icing on top of the crap cake that is being an OCE player this year.
Just a rant. I know SE will change nothing.
Buy some RMT gil and use it to gift expensive gil mounts?
Best gift you could always provide is to create a social event ingame or in discord.
Two years ago me & my FC played Cards against humanity in discord while hanging out ridiculously over Ishgard & that’s one memory that I will never forget; best Christmas in FFXIV.
Write a nice long & meaningful message in discord to anyone & send ingame cookies along with a tiny message. Trust me, people will come to value you 10x & remember you.
PS: wouldn’t stress out this much about the Mog Station
Don't worry, someone told me I was completely wrong and it was only temporary and gonna end before Xmas because I have no clue about anything. Try in 24 hours maybe.
