Deep dungeon is where it really comes in handy. Most mobs can easily be put to sleep and it becomes a vital tool in the deeper floors, when you have roamers. I imagine area sleep is helping out with those spawn traps, since it was added with EW.
Outside of that, there's the occasional use in dungeons and other content. I recently did Halatali as a SMN and the rest of the group had charged ahead while I pulled one of the chains. Mobs popped and I was able to put them to sleep and catch up to the group.![]()

Now the role action is just the Deep Sleep version of it, which is nice but still only used in specific situations.
