Deep dungeon is where it really comes in handy. Most mobs can easily be put to sleep and it becomes a vital tool in the deeper floors, when you have roamers. I imagine area sleep is helping out with those spawn traps, since it was added with EW.

Outside of that, there's the occasional use in dungeons and other content. I recently did Halatali as a SMN and the rest of the group had charged ahead while I pulled one of the chains. Mobs popped and I was able to put them to sleep and catch up to the group.

Way back in 2.0 it was meta. I still do if I'm doing fates by myself and my chocobo isn't enough to keep me alive while I'm on BLM. It's much more niche now than it was when the game started.

I remember when playing as a tank having to ask to "Please attack my target" when running low level dungeons. Sleep made it easier to kill one enemy at a time and not have to deal with the damage from the whole pull. Also, the second boss in Brayflox? You could (still can I think) put either drake to sleep and focus the other one, because they used to hurt quite bad for their level back then.

Nowadays? I don't think most people even know Sleep exists.
The days of marking which targets to attack first... not sure I miss them lol.

Repose was the WHM-exclusive single target version, BLM had Sleep which was single targets at lv10 until lv36 where it got upgraded to all targets via the Deep Sleep trait. Now the role action is just the Deep Sleep version of it, which is nice but still only used in specific situations.

Yes, I like the sound of the repose spell. Also, if some random mob aggros me I can just sleep it and run away rather than give it the satisfaction of the clean death it was seeking.

Solo... I put mobs to sleep. In a party... no because someone always hits it immediately afterwards and wakes it up...

In the first week or two of ARR release, I think I put a few mobs to sleep. I came from games where crowd control was important. You didn't take down so many enemies at once. However, it became clear that most of these enemies hit with a wet noodle. It probably has uses in places like PotD and HoH. Maybe Eureka?

Mao used to likes using Sleep but Mao quickly learned that tanks so strong in this game that is no need for Sleep.

As a monk I put mobs to sleep with my fists!

    sometimes my feet.

    They don't wake up though.

When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.

Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.

When I went as BLM on expert roulette, the tank did a big pull and then they died, followed by the healer and the other DPS. So I put the mobs to sleep and just wait for them three to respawn and come back.

Occasionally I use Sleep on mobs. Sometimes I use it as a Stun if the tank and melee's don't feel like using their toolkit, the other times I use it if support unsecure tanks if they miss mobs during pulls on a regular basis or if he's not well practiced at mitigation in which case I put a nasty hardhitter to sleep.

Also there's PotD and HoH ^^
