A lot of people somehow view the chances of a 0% chance vs a 0.0000025% chance as a worthwhile improvement from the small indie dev that is Square Enix.
I dont

There has never been a house in the lottery that drew 400,000 bids. If you're going to use spurious "math" as an argument, at least make it realistic.
In patch 6.3, there will be 50,400 new houses up for bid across the North American data centers. Start saving your pennies. Or don't, because you seem to hate Square Enix sooooo much.

Methinks they may have been overexaggerating to make a point. They're not using math as an argument, they're using the percent as a literary device. Same as when people say something is a 1-in-a-million chance. It's not a literal thing and taking it literally just hurts your point.

yeah always the exaggeration, the worst chance i had was ~2% on a large plot, which is an infinite inprovement over the placard clicking.
Don't add Dynamis in that count. They are not getting new wards. There are plenty of personal houses if you want a small.
not on Seraph. Shirogane, LB, Mists and ishgard are sold out. Dunno about the Goblet, but if there are houses available its not many.
seraph is sold out of personal houses. There are some available this round but they are all ones that had been purchased before and relinquished just like on the larger servers. Seraph could have really used the new wards. I'm thinking they are going to end up making all the new wards FC only for a few rounds, which is why Dynamis can't have them, cause even Seraph has quite a few FC ones left. Then when they open to personal in March or something, they will let Dynamis have them.
I hope not tho cause that will leave like no Larges and Mediums on older worlds.

You could be right that that the new wards are all going to be reserved for FCs only till a later date.seraph is sold out of personal houses. Otherwise, there's no good reason why SE is holding the ward split so close to their heart and did not reveal it during yesterday's live letter since it would risk having a player backlash which they would want to avoid tainting their big live letter reveal.
They've generally waited until the week before with the other announcements so no reason for it to be different this time. You could be right that that the new wards are all going to be reserved for FCs only till a later date.

Again, hoping they individualize splits according to need by world instead of giving them all the same split. Some from non-Crystal worlds say they still have a decent number of plots available in their FC wards so it would make more sense to make those all personal (or at most set one aside for FCs). Crystal needs plots for FCs in addition to personals.
While I agree in general principle, unfortunately SE didn't design the housing system with that sort of flexibility.
Players who want a house need to deal with the system as it currently is. Dreaming of what it could have been isn't going to make the available houses move from their current worlds to the worlds that need them.
Bad luck protection systems cannot work when it is players competing against players for the prize. They only work when it's the player competing solely against the game.I would be in favour of some bad-luck protection, but having been around for most of the band-aids they've slapped on house purchasing and seen the negative consequences, I'd like them to thoroughly research any method they choose rather than rush in and create a new rash of exploits and issues for us to deal with.
Thousands of NA players over the last two weeks have purchased houses and 99.9% of them had zero competition for their plot. Considering you're on Marilith, you're probably one of them.
Why pretend that 99.9% chance that SE gave you was only 0.0000025%?
Would it be nice if SE could adopt LotRO's system of adding new wards as needed just on the worlds where they are needed? Of course. They should have better researched what MMO players expect from housing before implementing a half-baked system that doesn't meet player expectations.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be possible with their game set-up. In that case, players need to seize what opportunity may be presented to them if they're going to get what they want. Or they can sit in the forums complaining and do without.
Hopefully, you weren't trying to go after one of the premium plots that had what little competition there was so you have your house now. If you didn't win, there are still houses left for the next lottery and you can get one then.
