You play female characters because you enjoy them, right? That's all that honestly matters. Don't let gender define who you are or feel the need to justify your choices. You're fine as you are.

    Play what you want, period.

I'm in Femroe and Elezen linkshells with a good 30-40% (maybe more) and 60-70% people cross-playing, respectively. I've got a male Elezen and a female Roegadyn; am I a man or a woman? Who cares?

When I started playing MMOs as a kid I mostly played as female characters. iirc it was mostly because they were rarer at the time. When I got a bit older I started gravitating towards male characters, but I did turn out gay sooooo.

I think another reason I played female characters back in the day was that females just looked less freakish compared to males, and when I was younger I liked slimmer profiles. It wasn't really until GW2 and SWTOR that I thought I could make male characters who looked pretty good. I still do have a single female character in every MMO I've played in the past couple of years because I'm usually going for a specific theme or look for them.

If you like playing girls then play girls. It's extremely common now, especially in this game.

I love kicking ass with my beautiful female (Angelina Jolie - tomb raider) character. They called me homophobic and harassed me continually and made cat calls. I quit playing that game and started playing this one where 1/2 the player base's characters are female .... Thank you ffxiv
Coolio. You're happy doing what you want and that's what matters. *Gives a thumbs up*

It's become a general habit of mine for a few reasons.

    1. I'm 167cm tall and 54kg and male. Most games do not have a male body type like mine. Which is kind of funny in one sense as it appears to be fine to have manly looking women in a game as playable characters but not effeminate looking men. I'd prefer playing a character more in line with my RL physical proportions which in most cases is petite female characters because it seems most games like to follow the same trend as this one where male options are choices of how many protein shakes you drink before working out at the gym or being a 1 meter tall potato.
    2. I very rarely find tall muscular male characters aesthetically pleasing. To me they generally just appear to be bulky and oafish. There are a few outliers like my male CAST characters in PSO2 and PSU who had their height maxed out and looked like an anime style mecha after equipping the shell parts I wanted.
3 Female characters tend to have much better looking clothing/costume options. Or also in quite a few cases far more clothing/costume options. Fashion tends to be the actual endgame to many games with customizable characters.
    4. In games where there are actual stat differences between genders female characters tend to have higher dex/agi based stats while males tend to have higher str/vit based stats. In those games I generally prefer higher dex/agi as it means better evasion and accuracy and said games tend to frequently have far more options of supplementing str/vit from gear. I'd rather consistently hit an enemy for small or medium damage than deal massive damage in 1 hit but only actually land said hit 1 out of 10 times.

I feel this so much, and it is very much the same for me. Even the Male Viera who are deemed "girly" by the player base are massive and bulky once you get past their soft featured faces.

Small framed males is a figure type pretty much ignored in 99.9% of games.

Personally the closest figure in game to me, a small framed male IRL is a female midlander with the breast slider set to 0.

If we actually had a non bulky male race I would most likely switch, but until then I'll keep just playing a cute girl.

Do people play their character as a 3rd person or more of a 1st person concept?

General when I make a character it’s how I would perceive myself in a game.

That's why I went with Elezen. I'm relatively tall and was slender in my younger years. Even though they're more muscular than I ever have been, they're the closest thing to me IRL so that's what I went with.

I've only played a female character once and that was during one of my many playthroughs of Dragon Age: Origins. Alistair is such a great character that you have to romance him at least once.

When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.

Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
