When do you think they'll add cross-region data center travel? OCE is screwed!

They are currently, but let me put it this way. Why would anyone make a character on Crystal after the DC split where everyone flocked to Aether?

Well people did make characters on Crystal - particularly a lot of WoW refugees did, because I met them constantly there. They just pick a data center at random and whichever world makes sense to them, unless they have a friend telling them which one to pick.

The Aether population was greater and it was obvious a lot of people had friends telling them to pick Aether, but there were those who picked Crystal and it has grown well over time.

I tried inviting a lot of them without an FC to the Novice Network. A lot of them declined, but some of them didn't. I observe the same behaviour on other data centers, so it's hard to say, but I assumed if they were any higher than 50 they were probably people that transferred.

If so, that's an apples to oranges comparison and should not be used as a reference to predict how Dynamis might turn out.

Instead, a more apt comparison would be to compare to Materia which is a data center comprised of completely new worlds and we all know how that turned out...

By then the Materia DC will have found a way to survive already or flopped entirely and likely been removed.

Yes, but those worlds were mostly regarded as "dead" by people. The most populated was Balmung. There was also Mateus that was sort of an overflow from Balmung. When I last checked a year ago, Crystal was significantly less populated than Aether and Primal, so Aether got locked forcing people to start on Crystal.

There is a big difference on Materia which is that it is for OCE and I suspect the amount of people playing from that region is smaller than NA, otherwise they would need 4 Data Centers like NA has.

At the end of the day you made the choice to move to it if your not happy with it then just leave. I understand that D/C travel this and that but that will empty the OCE server more.
Plus so much back of house stuff it would be easier just to close it. D/C travel wont fix it because they wont travel to Materia at all if our raid scene and que times are already "dead"

Yeah I agree with you dammed if you do and don't. I will stay on Materia(Ravana) yes there are many issues but I waited 4 yrs to get a house and I won't lose it now.(mansion and medium house in the same ward) I did create a new character on Dynamous and sent one of my alts there to help out the new sprout. So I am excited to play on this new server and go back home(materia) to check my island, FC workshop, and check retainers for added gil and mats then back to Dynamous I go.

If we don't complain, how would Yoshi P and the team take action faster. We can't be complacent about the current state of our data center. I have kept to this data center for nearly 10 months now. It started off fine, until people started transferring back to their original data center and leaving us to keep the engine rolling when we needed them. With all the players we lost in Materia, it has pretty much hurts most player's experience. It hurt mine. Thank god I don't enjoy Frontlines anymore, because 6.1 pvp actions just don't work well with it. But imagine a Frontline enthusiast enjoying the game mode, but they only have an hour window to do it every day? Why can't they play Frontlines whenever they want?

Duty roulettes would be fine although peak times (perfect time to do it) are small, it's doing content outside duty roulettes that would help Materia benefit from DC travel. It help them so much with unlocking content. It doesn't matter if it's not your problem, Phina. Think about everyone who transferred and their reason for transferring, and then think about the people staying, and paying the price for restricting their main from doing other content outside of duty roulettes? But you care about your own experience, but you're not thinking about the experience of other players who have a different mindset of approaching the game than you.

I would be fine with doing duty roulettes during peak times, and if I wanna do something like Frontline or Eureka, but I know I can't do it in OCE at the moment cause it's impossible, I can just DC travel to another data center to do the content for fun while progressing on my main instead of an alt. Does that make more sense? You think DC travel does not help. It would help so much for any player who wants to exhaust the content of FFXIV.

Just tell people to leave if they don't like it that's a wonderful solution. How about we fix the DC that SE decided to make for players and it's doable. DC travel at least is a outlet to get content done they can't get otherwise. It's something they need to take action on quickly and not let the DC hemorrhage any further. Letting it die a slow death with no action is unacceptable.

I know SE is hesitant about making other regions available but if it's possible just let Materia travel regionally. They don't need to do it everywhere. It will incentivize others to make the jump and come here if that is an option for them. Doing nothing and shutting down the DC isn't a solution or a viable option in my view.

In my case I can get my endgame stuff done. I usually play in prime time and I have an alt on Sophia not my main. Then again I have alts on many DC's including Dynamis and I can see the queue times there and without DC travel getting things like PVP and other content to run at the moment just aren't worth the wait. I will always queue Dynamis first though and give it a shot before heading elsewhere.

We're not seeing players asking SE to enable regional travel so they can go to Materia. We're seeing players asking for it so they can leave Materia to go to other data centers.

How is it a problem when most of the OCE players should be past the 90 days and eligible to use home world transfer again?

The problem was OCE players asked for a data center that was based locally to them but didn't think about the potential problems if they got it such as lack of population in off peak hours. Keep in mind those requests were going on for a long time before SE even announced they would be adding data center travel.

What do you think SE can do to fix it? Regional travel wouldn't fix anything because that won't get more players to play on Materia. That would only get Materia players to log in then play elsewhere.
