I dont know how much of an issue this really is. I craft a lot and most of my full stack purchases are for bulk crafting and can shift full stacks fairly easily a lot of the time.

A lot of the time large stack sales are items that are used in many recipes, levelling, or are base incredients crafters use a lot. Like, who buys 10 Alumen? If you're a leatherworker you need a ton of the stuff.

Also, there are usually smaller quantities of most items on the boards, particularly at peak times. Its quite rare not to have buying options.

You're running off the assumption that everyone is a bulk crafter. The majority of crafters aren't.

Who buys 10 Alumen? I do on occasion. Low level leather isn't needed for the items I sell in my market niches but occasionally I will have reason to make something that requires it. I'm not interested in buying a stack of 99 if all I need to make is 8 Toad Leather. I will buy that stack of 10, though.

There have been times I've gone ahead and gathered that 8 Alumen myself because there weren't enough small stacks available to create the amount I needed or what was there was listed at ridiculous prices.

Here's what the buik sellers are overlooking - even if some buyers will only buy partial stacks, the bulk buyers are still going to come along to buy up the rest plus more. When I'm on a bulk buying spree, I'm going after multiple stacks and I'll buy up stacks both small and large. You won't be losing out on sales. If anything you'll be gaining them by making it more convenient for the small stack buyers to buy off the marketboard over gathering/making the item themselves.

The ones who would start missing out on sales are those who sell the short stacks at high prices and almost none of them have been complaining in this thread about the potential loss of income.

I understand this, and smaller quantities are usually available but you'll typically pay a premium for them. Small quantities of base ingredients isnt cost effective though - whether you're a bulk crafter or not. Buying stacks low and churning the stock gradually is often significantly cheaper.

Take Dwarven Cotton which is used for a bunch of dwarven threads, mats and gear; and is also part of the BLM style glam sets. On my server a stack of 99 is nearly half the price compared to a stack of 20, and 1/4 of the average individual price.

It might be in part because they are used in a glam set, but they sell in large quantities and are a fairly stable market. You dont even need to HQ them. So, harvesting enough bolls for a few full stacks of bolls, threads and cloths and putting them as full stacks is worthwhile.

Lets say I harvest and craft 2 full stacks of bolls, threads and cloths, and a few gear set items. I can list the lot taking up 6 to 10 retainer slots and shift them quickly.

Or I could split the stacks into 20's taking up 20+ slots which while they will sell I would prefer to use for slower sellers that Im trying to shift. I would also be taking up 5 market board slots instead of 2 for each item which would potentially tank my own market - particularly if everyone followed suit.

Those people aren't complaining here because generally speaking those people aren't serious crafters. The people listing singles or small stacks are much more likely to casual crafters who ended up with some extra mats, or people who came across them randomly (ventures, maps, random desynth, etc.) Those people aren't interested in the market in the first place. They just want all the junk out of their inventories and maybe make some gil in the process.

This thread made me so flabbergasted that I had to actually log in just to comment on this. Using the Market today got really confused why the hell there wasn't a quantity box when trying to buy stuff, then I go search the issue and come across this thread right here.

Thank god I wasn't playing in 2018 cause I would end up getting myself banned if I had to read all these L takes in real time.

I just wish I could see what % of people that plays the game even use the forums in the first place cause there's no way this circus is actually the general opinion of the majority of human beings playing this game
