Okay here's another idea.

*A loser's ward.
*After 'x' number of weeks, let's say 15 weeks (or whatever) of bidding and losing, you have access to a new ward that has been opened. Only people that have lost the lottery the required number of times are allowed to join the lottery of the new losers ward.
*Could even have the bigger losers ward for those how have gone 15 weeks losing in the losers ward.
*One more final, biggest losers ward, if you lose for 15 weeks in the biggest losers ward you get a unique title "The biggest loser" as a consolation prize.

I was going to suggest that idea as well. Me and a lot of my friends have been participating in every single lottery for months (sometimes years) and have lost every single one. This system would give me hope that I will eventually get a house and is a bit more fair to those who may have lost to someone placing their first bid ever.

Another idea would be to have a waiting list system. You fill out a form stating what type of house you are looking for and in what ward and when a house of that type opens up, the first person on the list gets the choice if they wish to buy the house or decline.

So considering that the average amount of bidders in NA worlds is in the hundreds, for about 4 houses per cycle, that would mean a few hundreds more would be in the pool anyway, dont think that helps much.

Also a waiting list system wouldnt help as a lot of people just dont want "any" house, they want mist or shiro, or LB, but no goblet or empy.

Just pointing out that Dynamis has thousands of plots still just sitting there empty after first lottery and its free to transfer. We're also getting new wards soon in general. Now is the time to either go and get your house or prepare for wards to open and try your luck then.

The only real solution is instanced housing. I feel like a wait list is going to be too much of an ask for the community in terms of being patient. Plus, if said list is public and you're able to see your position along with everyone else, I feel like some would try to target those closest to the front and try to hack their account to "skip the line" or remove them from the running to the back of the line.

I can't even with this game and this stupid system. I have 50M saved up and I have entered the lottery every single week and still do not have a house. Even with all the new housing added in the patch nearly every plot on Lamia is taken. I even waited until 10min before end of the drawing to find a plot with the fewest entries and lost with only 2 other players in the lottery.
We need some way to guarantee housing. Charge the gil cap to guarantee a plot or something. Jeeze.

The bid period and claim period should only be 1 day each or we should be able to bid on as many plots as we can afford to bid on. This is nuts having to wait 8 days per bid.

I'd gladly sit outside a house for 14 hours clicking multiple times a week against 10 ppl over only getting one chance a week again 150 people.

I finally got one!! I had wake up at 6:00am and bid on a house with 0 other bidders, but I got one.
