A third party application should NOT be the default answer, especially when systems are available in game but the devs refuse to adapt (put DR on the DF or roulette)
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
It is a problem of anything that requires a group of bigger than 4 people and have an not-so-user-friendly access (no daily roulette). Same thing happened with the infamous Eureka raid. It is specially suck if you want to grind Resistance relics, and PoTD is a painful RNG grind cuz SE refuses to make it 100% drop rate for anything less than floor 100.
And yes, there are Discords, but the reason why there are Discords because SE is so bad at make people connect with each other in-game. Duty Finder would solve most of these problems, but they want people seeing each other in open world, while most people don't even remember of the name of the dude who painstakingly came to rez them! Same excuse with Housing.
At this point, I feel like they should make a solo version of CLL/DR/DA without rewards for people who just want to be done with the thing.
At this point, just automatically make it 1Tank/2Healers/5DPS so it can be chucked into Alliance Raid Roulette. It's fun content and you don't need essences to reliably get through it if you have enough people, although it does make it far easier. I just hate seeing DR languishing the way it is now.
Discord is just the most useful place to do community organizing, why are you pointing it out as third party program? The become a part of DF delubrum would have to be heavily nerfed.
I expect it's a lamentation of it being practically compulsory to use an outside platform in order to organize, or even in most cases talk to your fellow players at all anymore (I swear, if ingame chat goes any more silent, I might lose my ability to cast spells ... LOL).
That and the community's insistence on sticking to Big Social Media lately (Discord, Twitter, & Reddit) despite the mounting defects of those platforms and perpetually increasing corporate meddling. But how would you even get people to move to more independent techs? You could throw up a Teamspeak, IRC, and Mastodon server but would people even use it or just say "look, we use discord here" and expect you to continue to suck it up and use one of the world's most poorly managed platforms?
(Not to mention buggier than a diremite hive lately, apparently people are lucky if they can even upload images or video anymore, and often even Nitro doesn't help ... Plus that utter abomination of a mobile UI being proposed for near-future rollout, it makes the signup process for an FFXIV account look elegant by comparison)
All those chat programs you speak of are still third party programs which seems to be a big concern for the person i responded to. A first party option wouldnt exactly be free of corporate meddling either.I expect it's a lamentation of it being practically compulsory to use an outside platform in order to organize, or even in most cases talk to your fellow players at all anymore (I swear, if ingame chat goes any more silent, I might lose my ability to cast spells ... LOL).

I'm not here to defend discord. It's the most useful because of how many people already use it. That's not tied to current quality.
