I'm not objecting to the part you seem to think I'm objecting to.

We are in agreement that the "disbanding" is in name only, correct?

The part I am objecting to is that since it is in name only, there is no reason to say that the disbanding should lead to them not accompanying with us, and we should find someone new.

We're on a new adventure but that doesn't require us to not be accompanied by old friends.

These old friends exhausted their stay and after an expansion of them doing next to nothing of substance, 6.1 would've been the perfect opportunity to start introducing new party members. 10 years of these characters was too much already, the thought of being subjected to more of the same stagnant character development is unthinkable. Whether a competent writer can make a compelling story that includes any vestiges of the Scions is up in the air, but as now the only thing that is certain is that we won't get that from Ishikawa or from whoever wrote 6.1.

This is a decidedly Western viewpoint. Valid from your perspective, sure.

But in a society where ongoing visual media series are just hitting their stride after 10 years, it is way off the mark.

Detective Conan, sitting at 900+ episodes at this time, is a case in point. As is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, now getting close to 40 years in print. Black Butler is almost at the 200 mark. (ok, ok, #193 just came out last week).

If Tolkien had been writing Japanese serials, Frodo might still be on the way to Mordor.

JoJo swaps out its core cast and story every few years (well, JoJolion went for ten years, but wasn't exactly supposed to), so that's not the best example, but you're generally making a right point.

I would suggest to Aveyond that, if they think ten years of these characters is too much for them, that they don't have to keep being here for it. That's fine, it's completely okay to move on and find new joys in your life. They seem to fundamentally disagree with the way the story is written on the whole, so they'd probably be happier playing something else instead.
