You're a graylet apologist, the one toxic between us is you“User friendly” doesn’t necessarily need to mean more tutorial or guides, either. It could mean having each rotation condensed to less buttons like most other MMOs. It could mean having a better tick rate on our servers so that people can see mechanics easier. It could mean giving us more diverse dungeons that aren’t hallways so that players see many more mechanics and have a better challenge. Tutorials are fine, but subtle design changes would mean a lot to modernize the user experience. Older MMOs like WoW and GW2 have substantially upgraded their user experiences, but FFXIV still feels old-fashioned and cumbersome. That’s a difficult environment for new players to start raiding in.
That’s fine and quintessentially FFXIV, but remember that YOU are stuck with those people. It’s YOUR time wasted if you resist any positive changes to the gameplay. FFXIV is a live-service game, do not expect your 2013-esque experience to remain the same. If you still want to make toxicity in the game after improvements are made, you can always add that in yourself, but we don’t need the devs to hold your hand through that.

Can i ask how many people have truely been punished for just trying to be helpfully with newer players? When i was a sprout and even when i started trying new jobs i have had random players giving me tips and never took it personally and never reported someone for it because you can tell the difference between someone trying to be helpful or someone just being mean. Only time i did get mad was when i was grouped with my RL friend in a daily dungeon, he was new to white mage only like level 30 and we pulled titan. Noone died, noone was in any real danger of dieing but the one dps before dropping just typed you should reconsider healing. To this day still boggles my mind because not sure what this person thought he did wrong no explanation just that dig then drop.
No, you will not get in trouble for helping other players how to play the game. Well, it also depends on how the help is given. So, while you haven't gotten in trouble for it, xenahawk may if the tone is completely opposite of what you use.

A lot of people have and a lot of people haven't. The reason is because a lot of people don't phrase it right and it comes across rude.
If you say "use X action", it could come across demanding. They don't know you, so maybe you are angry and frustrated or maybe they know what they are doing and see your "help" as an insult. Especially if you give this "advice" right before leaving at the end so they can't even respond to you. Most people will interpret that as a closing insult.
You should look at the context because you don't know them and if there is no compelling evidence they are new to it or want advice then it might not be worth it. A lot of people can't seem to distinguish these things and just bark out their "advice" so it comes across insulting and demanding.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

The issues addressed by OP are why I won't offer assistance unless somebody asks for it first. It's also why I generally avoid dutyfinder unless I feel like witnessing a shitshow.
Sometimes, if the issue is really really bad and it's a thing where... like, I'd want someone to tell me, if I were messing up similarly, then I'll watch them to make sure they're screwing it up, and then ask if they'd like advice. This is very rare. And when it's done, I feel like I'm tiptoeing around broken glass the entire time. I'll phrase it really humbly, and in a way that implies that I just got done learning the job and struggled with it myself soitsreallynobigdeal so they don't feel dumb about it.
It really, really shouldn't have to be this way imo. If you're a WAR who's not using inner release in a level 60+ dungeon, I'm going to inform you about it because I'd want someone to tell me. That skill's cool as hell and you're missing out by not using it.
edit: and to the guy asking if anyone's actually been punished for this sort of thing -- that's the thing, we won't know. If you're dragged into gm jail, the gm can't tell you why you're there. You might've said "shit, my bad!" after dying and someone reported you for profanity. Or that newbie you helped took offense to the way you helped, so now you're in jail. Personally, I've never been to jail but I also keep my mouth shut 90% of the time so

I was.
I already mentioned this so I'll TL;DR this one
Other examples: during a run of Praetorium, when we could skip cutscenes, -I- told the leader that we had people back at the entrance watching cutscenes. I was kicked for no reason.During a run as a healer, I gently asked the tank to use aoe, because...they weren't using aoe so enemies would always go to me. And I'd die. And then they die.
Their reply: "chill bro he's new".
I ONLY asked them to press one button, but that was enough to piss them off.
Another time, during a dungeon in HW (I think Somh Al HM?), I had this dps who constantly overaggroed me and I told him "could you let the tank get aggro first?". Of course I got kicked, and I also reported them but nothing happens. As usual.
During a run of Lost city of Amdapor, during the butterfly boss, me and the tank kept telling the dragoon how the tactics worked, only for him not to just fail it and wipe us out, but constantly trolling us until he left.
I also remember a case during ARR where I was asked to help a friend for a Ramuh run, but he immediately got mad at me for some reason that I just can't remember. Of course we stopped talking after that. Not a big loss
I don't remember others right now, mostly because they don't involve new players, so I'll stop here for now.

I've been playing since September 2013 on PS3 and I've spent hours on different Mentor Roulettes, struggling parties and teaching parties. I've been helping people I see struggle for almost a decade now.
Not once have I been told to shut up or to not tell people what to do and not once have I had a problem related to this.
I have no idea what kind of language you guys use that keeps getting you in trouble, seriously.
