Majority rules, eh?Again, to you, perhaps. I'd encourage you to check out YT videos on the EW story. You'll find hundreds of comments from unique accounts (as opposed to the couple dozen or so people here having ongoing discussions) talking about how meaningful they found EW (again, to them).
Guess those caught in the middle are outta luck! lol
Nor did ShB did either. While there were most instances of people being Debby downers a lot of the norvrandt people were more so hopeful(Crystarium people) or ignorant (in the case of Eulmore) than actually being brought down by despair.
The only person who had the right to actually fall and showcase their own despair in the entirety of ShB was literally only ardbert.
"Stuck in a caste system? Stop being such a debbie downer~!"Nor did ShB did either. While there were most instances of people being Debby downers a lot of the norvrandt people were more so hopeful(Crystarium people) or ignorant (in the case of Eulmore) than actually being brought down by despair.

Also, you are right. ShB did hope better as well. EW really did ring hollow! lol
EW would have handled hope well enough if there was actual despair to be felt. The hope, and the message of hope, was there and pretty solid. There just wasn't any real despair to counter it. I know I never felt it even for a second. So yeah, it rang pretty hollow and fell flat on its face.

It's unnecessarily creepy and controlling, not to mention discounting some of the one-and-done posters who have popped up over the course of the thread letting us know they were lurking and relieved that they weren't alone in their feelings. Not to mention pockets of people on other social media, or tucked away in discords. Almost as if he's our personal Meteion...
Reminds me of a post on 5ch's 'disatisfied with Endwalker' threads a while ago (which are still ongoing, but last I checked it's boring bickering about population numbers):

No other game has believers so creepy/gross as this one.
Have to actually agree with this for the most part. As I thought more, the more I realized I only really liked it for Ardbert (our poor lad who actually did suffer the most), the lorebomb at the very end and the fleshing out of the villains... which was then squandered in Endwalker, and became all about the story of totally unrelated characters and 'emotion' at the expense of everything else. The patches were when 'primal tempering = cured by funny piggies' and Eorzea suddenly solving most of its problems and becoming super best friends came about, as well as Garlemald exploding -- all ways to 'clear the board' for Endwalker. I kind of liked the Fandaniel/Zenos dynamic, but it felt like it was trying to be Emet/Varis/Elidibus 2.0 (a dynamic that I actually wished lasted a bit longer)...
What I'm saying is, Stormblood, for all of its flaws, was truly the peak of this game for me, all said and done. 100% fact I am the arbiter of truth, sorry, my YouTube commenter overlords. :^)

If that's how it read to you, then yeah I guess.
I'm not gonna sit here and argue how personal interpretations may alter each person's opinion of a story. Ever since stories are stories, this has been true. Then the internet came and some think it's a competition to force the other person to view the world their way. Different interpretations and impressions be damned.

Shadowbringers reaaaaaaally should've been the Garlemald expansion and I will forever be salty that all that beautiful setup in 4.4 and 4.5 was wasted to have us go frolick and mess with some junk at the First rather than dealing with the looming crisis of Black Rose and the Empire. I hated how deceptive the ShB trailer made it seem like you'd be time traveling to the future of some sort with Mor Dhona being Crystarium and part of me was expecting from AAAAAALLL the hype people keep saying about zomg you'll be crying so hard was because it felt like we actually were forced to become "villians" or some shit in order to balance light and darkness. But NOPE none of that. I enjoyed Shb for what it is, but I cant be the only one who came with those kind of expectations to that expansion only to be met with a lackluster isekai plot.'muh specially curated-by-an-algorithm yootoob bubble = majority = you can't give your opinion without me swooping down to remind you that you're just a small handful of insignificant pests every day'
