It's not that hard but then again the hardest part is convincing the SE defense force that maintenance during a holiday that is recognized throughout most of the world (doubly so on the server region that you are knocking out~) is a bad idea. Though I wonder what part of that decision was made by the JP devs or the Califorina gatekeepers in the west.

You just answered your own question. Square Enix is a JAPANESE company. Almost 1/3 of the players are Japanese. Yoshida is Japanese. They have no reason to cater to us whatsoever. If you don’t appreciate their culture, don’t play their game. It’s that simple. Plenty of American games have Halloween events. You don’t go to Japan to promote gaijin no gomi and FFXIV is no different.



You hit the nail on the head. They don’t owe us ANYTHING. The sub for this game is cheaper than Netflix. Yoshida pours his blood, sweat and tears into this game and we pay pennies in exchange. I think we should be grateful that we’re getting anything at all. This isn’t Blizzard that we’re talking about here, this is Square Enix. They’re doing what they can with the small amount of resources that they have.

It going to happen remember the rest of the world does not celebrate Halloween like Americans

Strange when I was in Japan for Halloween they had lots of events for the Holiday. Decorations all over the place family events in around Tokyo and then the giant party/riot.



I think people underestimate how much of western culture permeates eastern culture simply from a capitalist view point. They celebrate almost everything we do, but simply because it is another thing for companies to sell. Lawsons can have Halloween cakes (pretty good) and other little things that people wouldn't buy, same with Daisoo and other cheap places.
