From what they've said, they had material for another 1-2 expansions, that ended up being compressed in EW, e.g. see here or here. I get a definite sense that Yoshi was in a rush to end the current arc.

Agreed, I find this annoying, as well. If an attempt was made to keep the codex relatively unbiased (or rather: make it clearer that it's written from a certain someone's perspective), it'd be a good destination for this kind of source material.
