Ill say it once more make all pld combo's so he has to stand in front of the mob, make war drum a normal move that does not need a shield block make it cost 500 tp or something, also give them 500 more hp.

WHM and CON are both realy squishy and there is a constant delema , how many do you need ? cuz the speed in wich the boss is killed greatly effects the chance of success of the party, soo obviously the less heals you need the better off you are, soo essentually your replacing a moderate dd / tank that soaks up MP from the healers with a Heavy tank that (if played properly) should take much fewer cures and add HP to the parties health bar as well) with addition buffs freeing up space for one more heavy DD wich would do more damage then the WAR anyways thus speeding up the same result is a safer manner. I agree however the same can not be said if their were multiple mobs in wich case the PLD couldnt generate enough hate on enough mobs to be an efficient tank.
I think the problem is no one figured out how to play PLD properly, or if they have they havent really made it common knowledge, so the conclusion is WAR > PLD all the time.WHM and CON are both realy squishy and there is a constant delema , how many do you need ? cuz the speed in wich the boss is killed greatly effects the chance of success of the party, soo obviously the less heals you need the better off you are, soo essentually your replacing a moderate dd / tank that soaks up MP from the healers with a Heavy tank that (if played properly) should take much fewer cures and add HP to the parties health bar as well) with addition buffs freeing up space for one more heavy DD wich would do more damage then the WAR anyways thus speeding up the same result is a safer manner. Ive always wondered why ppl never just assume they are doing it wrong, and instead decide the class is broken. PLD obviously need improvement, but SE sees a great tank where the community sees a bad one inferior to WAR. I think the developers would know better than us; just gotta wait for someone to figure out how to do it right. Until then, WAR ftw I suppose.
Somehow I don't think WAR > PLD has anything to do with players sucking at "figuring out" how to play PLD "the right way". Sounds like white knight propaganda to me. /shrug

My Gladiator > PLD
Fact.
My Gladiator has just over 100 more points of defense than my Paladin. It's amusing, honestly.
SE fix that paper bag tank job you call a Paladin.
Otherwise I'll stick with my Gladiator if I need a higher survivability than my WAR
This is the major point...
When you're talking about magic damage.. HP > ALL
So any NM, Boss, MOB, etc. that uses a big magic attack... the one with the most HP (WAR) will always be better
not having magic defense and not having elemental resistances on any gear is lame...
How is this possible? I don't even....
Give Pld an aoe provoke much like flash, an aoe emnity ws, a buff that works like Power surge but works for Defense, an auto refresh. and Pld will be golden IMO
i rememeber ready on the forums that was said that PLD will get 1,2K Def with full AF equip but doesnt seem the dev's want to make PLD a main tank, seems war will always be the main tank for now on and PLD will always be useless.
Going to miss my PLD lol

well when i equip my pld in the same gear i equip my gld my pld comes out on top with same exact def and more vit / hp and mp, soo i suppose depends on your gear and how you aloted your points /shrug
hmm , our LS has tried many many diffrent techniques, if you ever watched your parse, the majorit of the damage taken from ifrit is done my NORMAL attacks , same with any other boss fight, ( except, arguably, moogle king) fire resists helps where you can put it, but overa def>vit>mind> dext> elemental resist(apropriate element) > hp ( note hp is last). HP = dick if you cant deflect ANY damage. I parse the lowest damage i have ever seen tested on Ifrit, 33k in a 12 minute fight 21 in 10 minute fight and have never stacked HP on any gear. HP is a waist 1k hp gose in about 3 swipes or a tp move durring ifrit. and thats my own chr, soo if you deflect less damage then me (wich if you stack hp , you likely take alot more damage then myself) chancesl are 1k hp is about the first 10 seconds of ifrit fight, othewerise GARBAGE, HP is nothing w/o a way to defend it.This is the major point...
