Not disappointed at all. Some of the best raids and alliance raids they've done, more great-looking dungeons, I can actually manage Island Sanctuary when usually something like that would consume my life and we are getting criterion dungeons soon.

That's classic final fantasy. Throwing in silly things like chocobos and moogles. But remember that we needed to pass the time while the engineers got it working. Such a conundrum can happen in real life if the weather or a defect prevents it from launching and there were concerns about defects in ships in other final fantasy games as well.

I was fully clocked out during ultima thule segment with the fake sense of loss..
I'm glad that didn't happen because it's one thing for one or two of them to die but all of them? The thought of that instilled too much despair and that was exactly what they wanted because the story was about despair.

I un-subscribed back then for almost 2 months and came back for 6.2 island content. I think many people were hoping Islands would be more than just retainer dispatch. Even though yoshi SAID not to hope for much, I'd rather them just...not have done it?
It was done to expand the variety of content in the game like Ocean Fishing was. They know it won't be for everyone, but when someone is trying to find a type of content in the game that suits them, they might look at raids and dismiss them, they might look at the gold saucer and dismiss it, but eventually they might look at a content type like Ocean Fishing or Island Sanctuary and like it.

I think it's poorly designed when you need to stack with somebody in the blue circle and there's a green puddle literally right where you need to be.
That's part of the challenge. There is usually plenty of time to avoid it and then stack with them, or stack with them and then avoid it, depending on how far away the green puddle is. For the bait aoes you just have to bait those away and only move close when it's nearly time to stack. I think the design is intentional but it's not as easy to do consistently as other mechanic because of how it's RNG and sometimes it can just go wrong.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.

There’s a story thread that can explain why ultima Thule is bad way more than I could. It’s weird because it was essentially a memory lane for people that were still alive. Really they could’ve done anything else with ultima Thule. Hell, thancred could’ve pulled a James Bond sacrificial “last mission style” and actually died.

island sanctuary SHOULD’VE been for everyone. it’s a vacation island for nald’s sake. It was locked to Endwalker and fun for 5 hrs but then turns into a mobile game where you just dispatch n go.

Healers are roles that change their business depending on the content and party members, so I think it can't be helped that they get bored when they have free time.

I've noticed "patch apathy" settling in much faster than it used to. You ask yourself "why should I do x now, if next patch I will do Y instead and invalidate previous stuff". The negative side of the patch reliability I guess, specially if you have several expansions on you.

    That's classic final fantasy.
Not gonna lie, the weird "THIS IS WHAT REAL FINAL FANTASY IS" gaslighting going on in the forums is starting to get on my nerves.

On the subject of the second point honestly that has long been my most hated part of this game, sure it’s a final fantasy game so it’s supposed to have lore tie ins but each final fantasy game is mostly in a self contained world (yes I know things like tactics 12 and 14 are technically in the same world) and it gets really annoying having people do things like defend the changes to SMN and go ackshooly FFXIAJGJSLHK said that SMN is actually this exact class therefore we have to have it this exact way, despite the class having its own lore in this game

I’m happy the devs take inspiration but please let 14 breathe, it’s not a greatest hits compilation of exactly the FF game you played when you were 7

Abracadabra, here is 2 years worth of development in just 4 months.

Things take time to do in life, especially game development. If you put yourself in the position of drawing concept art, creating all of the models, animations and environments, painting all of the textures, writing the story, designing a fight scenario that meets strict criteria for the content type, coding the functions, scripts and cutscenes and coming up with some good background music that is completely your own piece and not someone else's, you will start to see how it's a lot of work. All of these things can and probably do have bugs and issues that need fixing over and over again until the bugs are gone.

In FF9 you visit towns full of dwarves, mages and rat people and in FF7 you meet a lot of 4-legged creatures at their home and talk to them. I don't know about others, but subverting your expectations by having you meet a completely ridiculous type of people feels like exactly what FF games have done to me before, so seeing Loporrits was easy for me to shrug off because I know what type of game I'm playing.

It's one of the most idiotic arguments, really. People trying to dictate what "real final fantasy" is when Square-Enix hasn't gotten a grasp on it since Sakaguchi left. Every Final Fantasy since X has been a war of directors stating "this is MY vision of what Final Fantasy is".
Those are usually the same players who claim new SMN is more "FF-like" even though the way Summoning works in FF hasn't been the same in over two decades.
