You can apply this mindset to any content in the game.
This is because battle content, by its very nature, can fallback on gameplay interaction. You have to play your job and react to the environment in the moment even if it's the same loop every time. Something like Island Sanctuary doesn't have such a luxury since your interactions are limited to what are essentially spread sheets. Gathering more Island Stones won't change the gameplay loop.

Savage, in particular, keeps itself alive due to a certain website which appeals to a good portion of its target audience. Once you've collected all the rewards from Island Sanctuary. There's nothing to keep you going back. This isn't unique to that content either. A lot of casual content suffers in this regard. FFXIV as a whole has always struggled with longevity. You either have to like a large amount of everything or you'll run out of things to do.
