Still issuing here too
Bump - issue still present
Bumping for visibility so my SO stops complaining non-stop (kidding, love you hon)
What happens if you press Play and then once the screen goes black, press Alt+Tab, does it let you minimize and then back to Fullscreen, or does the game exit no matter what you press?
I would uninstall the game and then install it on a different Drive, if you have, even an external Drive, just to test, Steam lets you easily change the location of game installs too.
You could also try changing your Monitors refresh rate in Windows, set it to the minimum (some have 15, 30, 50 and 60Hz min), that forces the game to change the in-game resolution and Hz which with the game files, could be the issue with certain hardware and the patch-updated files.
I appreciate you offering ideas - thanks! What happens if you press Play and then once the screen goes black, press Alt+Tab, does it let you minimize and then back to Fullscreen, or does the game exit no matter what you press?

You can't alt-tab with this issue, the screen turns black and remains in the foreground no matter what. You can't even ctrl-alt-del, UNLESS you've opened task manager, run dual monitors, and ensure task manager is on the other monitor to the launcher. You can also run a separate desktop instance if you forget the above.
Given so many players are impacted (I'm monitoring this issue across many forums & other mediums, I'd be shocked if it wasn't thousands of players at minimum who cannot log in, some threads have 100s of diff users with this issue beginning in 6.2) I can only assume it's nothing niche like a drive issue.
BTW - really interesting your username on the forum is Final-Fantasy, but you play on Zurvan like me, where my username is 'Final Fantasy', coincidence :O
Bump - issue still present
I'm wondering who should be responsible to the issue, Steam or Square Enix? It seems like no one cares about us.![]()
My fear is that they either blame each other, or worse yet they blame NVidia or some other 3rd party. Our best bet is to bump the issue until it is looked into.
A reminder for anyone reading who may have missed it: you can bypass the problem by force closing steam after the FF launcher opens, with all the drawbacks it has of course, but at least you can play...
