oh I get it! so I guess you craft and gather in parties as well right?!?! oh wait...you do that SOLO.
Im sick and tired of this narrow point of view from people like you.
Thread got derailed a bit, but I agree with OP.
I would like to see some more solo or duo content like dungeons and battlefields. Perhaps not even exclusively solo (balancing solo-only stuff can be difficult) but with a solo option at least.
Currently, the only repeatable solo-required content that comes to mind is GC Leves. Unfortunately, they get old rather fast and aren't very rewarding.
Solo-centric gear would be cool as well.. with bonuses that appear if you aren't in a party.

Not all solo content need to be a battle content. It could be some mini-games like a card game.

I believe this sentiment, along with several other issues, is why such drastic changes have been taken, and are continuing to be taken by the new team at SE as they try to make this world more interesting and exciting in many different ways for us.I agree, but my main complaint is that the solo opportunities provided therein are not even half as compelling and/or captivating as compared to other MMO's.
There is a decent bit of solo stuff to do in XIV, but almost all of it is boring, repetitive, and not worth doing in the first place.
I think it is also fair to try and manage expectations a bit. It is perhaps not best to compare a tried and true world (Vana'Diel', after 6+ years running (depending on when you were last there)), to Eorzea (2 years running, with general consensus the first 1.5 years was not all that great and needs to be re-done).
If we wish to compare Eorzea now, we should best compare it to Vana'diel as it was 2 years after release (which I believe was just a bit after NA release?).
Personally, I accept the argument from SE: Oops, yes. it did not come out as well as it could.
Now I wait for 2.0. When it comes out, if it is more of the same, then we can critizice with our hard earned gil, and I'll go back to Hello Kitty world or something.
I like this line of thinking.
I wish they would redo the Path Companions and allow us to summon them for battle. It would make the 4-man dungeons more accessible as well as help fill in an 8-man party instead of having to shout for an hour with 7/8.
I know after server merges it may not be as big of a problem but when new content is added, it usually becomes harder to find people for older content (Toto-Rok anyone...anybody...?)
I would just like more options and I feel it would benefit everyone and hurt no one.
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
Howdy!
I got a response from Yoshi-P himself in regards to your questions about solo-content.
He mentioned that he is not really thinking about implementing solo-centric end-game content, but with the introduction of the content finder in version 2.0, it will make it easier to group up and challenge content without the stress of forming parties yourself. There are also plans to increase the number of quests as well.

Don't remember if it was answered but is it possible to not group up with people you don't want with this content finder in 2.0? not trying to be rude or anything but using content finder is cool but I don't want to group up with someone who's lazy at his class/job or just tagging along for loot. Like if you black list them they wont be able to invite you or you can't get them in your PT.Howdy!

I know doing this might lead to other problems like singling out that person(s) but... I am really sick and tired of partying with people that just take advantage of others/situation from FFXI... Now if someone just says.. then party with people you know then.... that's that... since it's true lol. I want to try and use this Content Finder in 2.0 but also be able to make sure I don't get those I don't want in my PT or be invited to that PT he/she is in.

My understanding is that the party can vote to kick people from the group, at least in other games. It would be useful to get rid of "that one guy" that isn't following directions and getting everyone killed.
I'd also like the ability to have cross-server friend lists or even invite cross-server people to our LS's if possible.
