I'd rather they redirect these animation resources towards making the models on screen move more naturally like people rather than on the food. My focus should not be gravitating towards how beautifully they animated a sugar cube, it should be on what the characters are saying and whether or not it's contributing towards the progression of the story and/or their personal arcs.
Think of it this way, when they're able to reach a point to where they can animate that with no issues, they can start animating more important things easier, like hair, smaller facial expressions, FINGERS SO WE CAN ACTUALLY HOLD THINGS INSTEAD OF JUST BEING SHOWN A PERSON OUTSTRETCHING THEIR HAND TO GIVE US SOME UNSEEN OBJECT (I still hate this).
