Female Hrothgar as a playable race. Show your support!

That said, we do know that female hrothgar are planned already, so it's unclear how they'll approach the eventual release.

I hope people at least understand why this thread is kept up.

It's not that anyone's asking for female viera or not. That ship's sailed. But given the wonderful level of attention and quality Square Enix has offered Hrothgar in recent times, we're a little skeptical about how they'll proceed with the race.

It's par for the course, but we don't have any real design from them yet. Best we got is a mural, and that likely will only display one possible face, not four. And some people wish said mural were allegorical rather than an accurate representation (a feeling on which your milleage will definitely vary). At worst we have their FF10 design for female Ronso, but that's no guarantee either; you can't make Kimahri in the game. You can make an approximation, but it's nowhere near similar. They don't even have the same hairstyle. We've had similar with male Viera, after all; we didn't see any design until it was already finished. The same will happen with Female Hrothgar.

But the dev team should at least consult its playerbase before making a decision.

Not to bring down creative freedom, you do you, but there's valuable insight into asking what people want rather than just diving yourselves in. Especially when recent events proved that Square sounds rather unwilling to listen to Hrothgar feedback without rolling their eyes half a dozen times before begrudgingly acquiescing, but also how much of a disconnect there is between them and their playerbase.

Considering how alien this race is in comparison to every other, having some designs to show and have fans discuss on them wouldn't be half bad. But we know they'll never do this, hence why it's important to at least warn them that fan expectations are a thing they need to take into consideration.

After all...

My hope for them is that their design will be just as beastly as the males. With a little bit of luck, we might see something in 6.4, but I wouldn't hold my hopes up to that. A large majority of people made the excellent point that they might come in 7.0 since that is how new races/genders are introduced since it's a big selling point for the expansion.

See, this is what I want people to experience. For them to play the game they want to play with the race that they want to play. A race that is being given to them, no matter whether people agree with it or not (I definitely have choice words against Hyurs being in the game, after all :P /s). But I'd rather them experiencing the race to its fullest, with quality and care. Just like everyone else does. Without anyone telling them they can't.

If they're thinking Female Hrothgar will\has to sell 7.0, then they're dumber than they look.

But I doubt they're expecting it. It's clear that they're doing it out of fan outcry, and if so, then so be it. I don't think that alone will sabotage quality. What will sabotage it is them being laissez-faire about the subject. What will sabotage it is them assuming they can do the same to Female Hrothgar as they did to Male Viera: release them with as many limitations as their male counterpart. What will sabotage them is them not paying attention to the playerbase that intends to interact with their content, rather than the ones who never even tried the race out. Or worse, making up assumptions based on feedback that isn't theirs.

Though I will say this. Just for the record.

If there's a future deference to this thread due to the release of Female Hrothgar in 7.0 with limitations and very questionable design choices, then here's the thing for those of you reading this:
We, at this time, are fully aware and comprehend the work that must be done to undertake this, as well as vaguely understand the work required to do everything else they've already planned from 6.2 onward.
However, Female Viera have been planned for a long while now.
It is within their scope. They use Agile Development. It's specifically made so that they can adjust their production and better divide their time for future\unforeseen circumstances. And the fact that this is planned in advanced makes it clear it is not unforeseen.
If there are any problems with Female Hrothgar, then I want you all to know that they had time and they had resources. They simply chose to do what they did two years ago, when Male Viera came out.
We gave them feedback, we debated for months now about potential issues, processes they have to go through and possible solutions. We gave them an overall opinion of what some fans want vs others so that they could be more confident in their design. I just pray it's taken seriously.

Also to note, at least here in this thread, the Hrothgar Fanbase: the ones who Play and Care about the Hrothgar, have been pretty darn consistent and mostly agree with what is wanted for Female Hrothgar. If the Devs might have been looking for feedback, we over here in the English Forums Pretty much know what we want and expect out of the Female Counterpart.
There has also been Plenty of Fantastic Fanart and Renders of how the Females could/Should look

The same Crap has been repeated here for over 2 years of how we'd like for them to look.

However They come out.
I'll see how I make my 4th Alt. Depending on how she comes out.
[since I didn't make a Male Hroth, I can't say I know the specific pains Viera, and Hroth have faced, but I can definitely get a sliver of the feeling]

...daft question. The answer is likely no. But I'd like to ask what you guys think of it regardless.

Do you think that when they include and properly introduce Female Hrothgar, given that Misija Votyasch is a Hrothgar name and not a Roegadyn name, they will retcon Misija and her ancestor Queen Gunnhildr into Female Hrothgar models?

They had no such design in store back when they made them. And we know from the NPCs within Gangos itself that Hyurs and Roegadyn retain their traditional nomenclature. It doesn't make them any less Bozjan. So why would Misija be so jarring and be a clear inconsistent aspect of their story? It shouldn't be much different to program a different model for Misija and the Queen. It's no different than what they do for us; how do you think animations stay the same in cutscenes regardless of whether we're Roegadyn, Au Ra, Lalafell or Viera?

No offence to Roegadyn in general either. It's just that it's too jarring to have a character with a clearly Hrothgar name, with such an importance to our lore, be portrayed as a Female Roegadyn simply out of what we assume to be a lack of models at the time she was released. Who knows, maybe even you Roegadyn players would enjoy not having yet another display of villainy from your race... Memorable displays of heroism among Roegadyn seems to be limited to a dead character in one patch and Gosetsu.

I know it's a long shot. But they've gone back and edited old content because fans asked for it. Hence why I ask. To me, it appears rather jarring and I'd hope they changed Bozja's cutscene models to better reflect the race being portrayed. But what do you guys think?

Im going to say No...
Unless they also add a brand new incentive to even go back into Bozja, then nobody besides MAYBE new people will see the change; IF they even did it.

It would be neat honestly, but I doubt they would rewrite and remake Bozja for this change, or even address it.
