More generally, as with many subjects in the forum, it all comes down to

Enjoying Final Fantasy XIV for what it is.

versus

Hating Final Fantasy XIV for what it is not.

The extreme saltiness of some forum posters, obvious from their repeated hyperbole and attacks on the devs, really makes you wonder why they are playing the game at all.

Goes both ways tho, the SE defenders or whatever you'd like to call them goes into these threads, plug their ears in and go 'la-la-la' at the detractors. Each and every time there is something negative there will be people, sometimes the same ones, who will jump at the opportunity to tell the OP or whoever why they're selfish/attacking the devs/don't understand the resources they're asking SE to allocate.. ect ect ect ect. If you're going to just do that then why go to the negatively opinionated threads at all? You know for a fact you're not going to like the opinion and even if you don't know that and end up going "just another salt thread", then like.. why even bother? Same goes for the SE-haters.

Also, you can like some aspects of XIV for what it is (personally, I love the music, fashion designs, housing items, maps, story, ect for example) and still acknowledge that the game has problems. It's not really that hard to conceptualize that people still play it because the game is a solid 8/10 in a lot of aspects and then you turn into a corner and hit the 5/10 features (Savage lockouts, squadrons, gold saucer, for example..)

Interesting. You really don't care whether a statement is true or false? That does seem to be true:

• If a statement serves your goals and your narrative, you support it or give it a pass, even if it is false and inflammatory.
• If the statement doesn't, you want the person who made it to self-cancel, even if what they said was true and relevant.

It wasn't just luck. There's a reason I have leveled 12 alts to 2nd Lt. and L50 or better.

And frankly, I don't consider having an FFXIV house anything to brag about, no more than having a pair of Keen Uneek sandals would be.
I own Keen Uneek sandles, and as with owning a FFXIV house I get joy from doing so, but I don't think saying so is bragging. In fact, relating the joy I get from these silly shoes might lead to other people enjoying them too, so why not share the joy?

Anyone who is "bragging" about an FFXIV house must have very few real accomplishments, I think.
That's not the case for me, but listing my real-life accomplishments?

Keen sandals are the lulzy version of Chacos/Pipers/Olukai. Keen sandals are good for just about going on groomed trail walks, wouldn't backpack in them. Definitely wouldn't wear it as a fashion statement in any sense of the word. You'd be better off with NB shoes or trail runners for that/backpacking/rough trails.

But sinfully comfortable and easy to slip on and off. My spouse and I both love them.
And as Padudu says, not for rough country, but at least it's easy to shake small rocks that slip into them out.

And while taste in RL fashion varies, just as tastes in FFXIV glams do, people often remark positively on them.

Its almost like FFXIV is a flawed game with good parts and bad parts and people can have opinions on each.

in my opinion this game's quality ranged from a 4/10 to an 8/10 depending on what you're doing.

Trying to get a house is honestly pointless. Has been for years at this point. Even if you were to somehow get one, it isn't much more than a money sink and a subscription trap.
