i'm not much on the long lockouts. if this game was like xi(since the comparison is being made) and had a bunch of options on what end game events you could do i'd feel differently. the thing is there's only 3 pieces of end game that is viable atm(ac, cc, ifrit). you put a 24-72 hour lockout on that content and people will sign in and run those few things and then sign out. there's not enough different kinds of end game content to support a long lockout atm.

there's just nothing else worth doing right now with the snails pace of content that has trickled into the game over the last year and most of the new stuff makes the other stuff worthless to do.

Right lets reward people who give a big FYou to the designer of the the dungeon and a big slap in the face to the balance team.

No, you should not be rewarded because you all slapped on buffs and ran through not fighting anything just to get to the very end and quickly zerg the boss. There is no skill, that is not a talant, thats just running and ignoring everything, wow what talent you have there.

Live with it. I am glad random people who like to play properly and appreciate the dungeon get the loot.

If you're just speed running through, then what is the point in having the mobs there at all or anything really? You may as well ask the devs to just make raids so that you Spawn at the Boss and you kill him for loots.

So glad this crap isnt in Guildwars 2 and you get rewarded for exploration and actual skill of getting through the dungeon.

But there is specific loot you can only get from completing speed runs, so in a way they are rewarding speed-runners with a chance at loot nobody else can get if they can't speed-run.

Why do people keep talking about speed runs like they take tons of skill?

What is the rush? Even after 1.22 (which it won't be for months) is released it is not like Garuda is going to drop a bunch of armor, it will likely have primal weapons. Are we going to get the Legatus's armor in 1.23? None of those fights will even be in 2.0, but these dungeons will be. What does that tell you?

Face it these two dungeons ARE the itemization until 2.0 most likely, so maybe marathon farming runs aren't exactly necessary unless you are just dying to burn yourself out for no reason.

If they increase drop rates it would just mean everyone would have the gear in a week, and itemization would once again be a non-factor in FFXIV.

Look they know what they're doing. They know the loot system in the game is a time-sink. They don't have a lot of content so the only way they can keep you playing is to make the drop rates stupid. Whats better for SE keeping you and your elite friends in a dungeon for an entire month, or letting you guys get all the gear in 1-2 weeks? "Spoiler" they choose the entire month... then even after that month you guys might still be missing one last part of a set keeping you locked in cc or av hoping to finish a set. SE knows they are screwing you in time.

Don't worry though as soon as they have enough content they will change how drops work and people will get the same armor that took you 1-2months to get in a week. The main thing i want to get across is they already know and are doing this on purpose.

If we wanted things changed we would have to call Yoshi out and be like look its not our fault there isn't enough content in the game stop making us grind the same stuff over and over... hey we love ifrit, moogle,av,cc they're beautiful dungeons but i think after 30wins we should at least have just about everything we need from the place. Anyways just my opinion but i know for a fact they're doing this on purpose and won't be changed unless enough people complain.

we've done quite a lot of runs, probably close to 100 by now, and we have a total of 10 pieces of darklight- 3 of which are bodies. not exactly a rewarding drop rate.

we're really motivated to deck out an entire group in full darklight, but at this rate it will probably take a few months of constant runs, and it just isn't realistic to expect a group of players to maintain 15 speed run completions a day for 2-3 months straight.

sure, there isn't much content in the game right now and they want us to have something to do, and i understand MMOs work like treadmills- but this just feels like treading water.

eventually people get tired (or bored) and drown.

not sure what the exact answer is, but something should be done.

i don't recall any of us doing speed runs saying they're overly hard. in fact, most of us long for a greater challenge. that said, though- if it's so easy, do it.

and p.s. running through mobs is quite limited in av and cc speed runs. chest conditions are similar to DH, but not the same. the dungeons are similar, but not the same. just because you think you know about DH, don't pretend to think you know all about av/cc.

Simple solution, add a difficulty option, thus the higher difficulty the higher drop rates. Now, skill will help with getting better drops...

Personally I haven't been a fan of Speed Runs, I'd rather have each battle be tough.
    1 Star = 4 Man
    2 Star = 8 Man
    3 Star = 8 Man (Diff + 1)
    4 Star = 8 Man (Diff + 2)
    5 Star = 8 Man (Diff + 3)

Just like with leve difficulty. The dungeons could have this option. Now, this is just my opinion. But with the difficulty change, you could remove the time limit, but still design the dungeons to be explored, and completed in about an hour. Increasing the difficulty increases the mob levels, as well as perhaps placement of chests, and throws some other conditions on the party. But again, opens you up to better drop rates.

it'd be nice for the drops to be easier to get but that would mean everyone else would have it too and i don't like that. i like it the way it is-it's all luck but the hardcore will always come out ahead.

I suppose playing since release as a Collectors Edition buyer, paying for 6 months ahead of time, and investing myself into an open-beta game isn't thanks enough. We are consumers, and you are the kind of imbecile who post on forums without really thinking before they write. It is not up to me to tell the developers thank you. In fact, it is my job to tell them where they are at fault so they (the developers, producers) can put out a better final product. By doing so, I hope more people will come and enjoy this game.

Speed runs are not difficult. But, the majority of the population hasn't done it yet. What does that say about peoples skill?

And I took the 2 minutes out of my day to look at your profile. You simply cannot come on this thread, and spew out some opinions when you have not even experienced any of the end game content. I will take back this comment if you are using an alt as your forum name, but for some reason I doubt it very much.

Furthermore, in cutter's cry, you don't just run through. There is actually killing going on. An entire weekend of raiding should not go unrewarded. That was my simple point.
