Your last sentence could be the hint though that they are not the same. We could have two different crystal types on our hands The ones that leaked which may have come from the Ascians themselves (seeing how they loved to manipulate) to battle against those WoL who might have otherwise won. And then we would have the memoria crystal which was basically just a powerful weapon used by those that wanted to conquer.

Anyway even if the memoria crystal is not the one that leaked corruption it could still lead to disaster on the source. If those are getting into the wrong hands they could lead to bloodshet and some new kind of summonings. I really dont like that we took them with us...at the same time we at least still have them in our possession right now, so nobody else should use them against us at the moment.
